TWO new Marcus Miller budget signature model basses!

Here is the one I played. If it would have been a five, I would have bought it on the spot.

Yes. Our South Austin Guitar Center had a used 4 string that I played around on for about 10 minutes.
I hate that I missed the first pre - sale of the Sire MM V7. If it had not been for Talk Bass, I'm not sure I would have even heard about Sire Bass and Marcus Miller's endorsement. Seems like this is kinda insider information at this point. Very little publicity about theese cool, well constructed basses. I am hoping the all this G.A.S. is true. From all the buzz around here, there is nothing but love for these basses. Can't wait to get my hangs on one of my own...:) Little to no advertising expenses equals a lower price for the players !Someone has already said, Fender American Deluxe specs at Squire prices !!! Hard to go wrong...Whoo Hooo !

I was watching from the beginning but it was almost surreal that MM was leaving Fender for (at least to me) an unknown company like Sire. When the prices came out it was even more of a surprise and I know there were some that had their doubts. Then people started getting them in their hands and couldn't believe how good they were. It's like a dream come true! Lol. I can't say enough good stuff about the one in the pic that I played. I knew about some of the fret buzz due to the way the nut is cut but I don't recall this bass having any issues like that. The action was pretty low too. The EQ was very impressive. The sweepable mids is a nice touch.

If you could make a comparison, what bass would you compare this to ? I am familiar with Fender Jazz American Standard Series. From what I am hearing, this bass may be on par with a Fender Deluxe Jazz...your thoughts please ?

I'm not sure what to compare it to. I don't have any experience with the Am Deluxe. It seemed easily on par with my MIM deluxe jazz I just bought. Tone wise it was on another level for me than my Fender.

Right out of high school I took a road trip to Seattle and tried every rig there was at Bass NW. The Eden blew me away. I scratched and saved every penny I had and bought the Highwayman when one of our local shops started carrying Eden about 6 months later. Not long after I got the old D410T cab and traveled on the road with that setup for 3 years. I can't believe how well it survived with all the abuse it went through. (rolled gear trailers etc) I later upgraded to the WT-800 and all that eventually got stolen. That was at a time when Eden CS and even QC seemed to be having some serious issues so I moved on. Fast forward about 8 years and quite a few different gear companies later and I've come full circle. There's just something about the Eden rig that does it for me. It's not light, it's not cool anymore, but man...it sounds great to me!! Sorry for the derail and good luck on getting the cab!

So still no luck getting the preamp to work reliably? I'd be fairly torqued over that, hope Thomann makes it right.
Sorry for the delay; it's been a while. I've been working my ass off on auditions and gigs lately.

The weird thing is that I haven't played the bass for about a week when I was practicing for another gig. Went back to it because Thomann has requested a video of the issue. Now I can't recreate it. They told me not to worry, since the warranty is for three years.

So I'll just play it and hope it doesn't do it on a gig. Thankfully, if it does, I just turn off the preamp.

Finally my 5 str. arrived today. Sorry for the images not being too sharp. Must be something wrong with my iPhone.

So far I haven't plugged it in yet, only took it out of the box (on my bed as you can see, and yes I need to fix my wall!), took pictures and played on it for about 5 minutes.

Overall I'm VERY impressed!
The build quality of this bass is as good as my MM signature (Japan) bass hanging on the wall. Can't find a single flaw, the finish is really top notch. The headstock actually looks less bad in real life than in the pictures. Body seems sexier than my MM sig, and the translucent white blonde is gorgeous looking.
Even the string height is perfect for me out of the box.

This bass definitly IS a gamechanger IMHO! If this baby sounds as good as she looks, Sire-guitars (and Mr. Miller) truly will make an impact in the low/mid end market. Good luck to Fender and the rest of the gang!

Actually tried a 5 str. MM Mex Sig. about a month ago. But it didn't come close to the feel and looks of this one and it's 6 times the price here in Denmark!

Don't know how the serial number-thing works but it seems mine is 107?

Question!! As you can see it comes with D'addario strings, but can't seem to find them on D'addario's site, can someone illuminate me?

Did your bass come with a gig bag ?

Theses basses remind me of sushi. If a person is presented with 2 plates of equal quality sushi, with one priced regularly and the other priced at a discount, he may assume that there is something fishy with the latter plate.
I would certainly hope there's something fishy on both plates, actually.

Hey, great news! I hope whatever gremlin or glitch it was stays gone!
