Le Bass tube Preamp

Versatile tube bass preamp pedal by Two Notes Audio Engineering
This is the new thread for owners, or soon to be owners of the Two Notes Le Bass tube preamp.

We can discuss everything from settings to which side (A/B or Hot/Cold) you use for which songs. I've found that I never turn it off. It's part of my tone no matter what other effect I might be using.

So show those pics of Le Bass on your pedal board!

I just found out how nice the built-in Cab Sim sounds on the Di output! I no longer have to fear the sound of the Di that FOH uses. I've heard some tinny, clicky crap over the years. Or sometimes the FOH bass sounds like it's being defined (Gated) by the bass drum and does not exist without the drum. Having more definition to your bass tone really helps the Front of House engineer get it right.

So I'm getting pretty interested in picking up one of these and replacing my Sansamp Bass Driver DI. But I have two quick questions that I'd like some feedback on from those who may know.

1.) How does it compare to the Sansamp (i've heard a few clips but I'm looking for that big tube sound as well as getting "clean" focused tone too)
2.) I've seen it paired with the Torpedo C.A.B. which looks awesome. But, this has built in Cab sims? How does it work and how to you pick and choose in a live setting?

either way this thing has me really interested.

I haven't compared it to the Sansamp but it does get that "big tube sound".

A friend of mine just ordered the B7K ultra and we will a/b them when we can.

As for the cab sim, it only comes with one "fridge cab" sounding one. You can only turn it on or off.

I've actually asked the Cab sim question to Two Notes directly. The 8x10 Fridge is right. On/off is right. My contact actually work with EBS for a while and he said it's a lot better than the sim on the Micro Bass 2. He wasn't a fan of the EBS sim, but I liked it. If it's better than I'll probably love it.

The Torpedo is a totally different animal. You can select the cab (did you know there was a 9x10 Fridge? yeah. It's in the CAB), the mic and the mic placement. The MIDI allows you to have one cab for your clean, one for your dirty and another for you "fusion" mode.

The CAB also has several different power amp options that are very convincing as well as a instrument specific eqs. The power amps are also midi controlled. SO amp off for clean, Class A for dirty and class A/B for Fusion if you want.

With the TorpedoCAB you can also profile you cab using their software so if you have an amp that you really like you can run their test signals through it using your favorite mic and placement and add it to your Torpedo.

I highly recommend watching their videos on the Torpedo to get a feel for it. There's really nothing like it.

The "Le Bass" videos are worth your time also.

I'm 90% sure I'll get both.

So are the Cab Sims load able into the pedal or is it just the fridge one?

Just the fridge. Confusingly you get free cab IRs with the Le Bass but they are for use with Two Notes software plugins. The cab sim in the Le Bass is just simple analog EQ filters and nothing like the digital modelling in the Torpedo.

Asked that question to, but I already knew the answer.

The sim in the Le Bass can not be modified. Think about it. If you could, why would you buy a CAB?

There is a "wall of sound" plug in for the Le Bass but it's for recording only. It can't be saved into the Le Bass.

The CAB's software is totally different. You can adjust the simulation from the CAB itself but if you use the software it's a lot more intuitive because of the graphic interface. Once get it like you want you can save it into the pedal.

So...Is this a club? Cause if it is, I want a number! I received my Le Bass a few days ago and didn't really have time to play around. But from the start, comparing it to my DHA VT2 Standard eq it replaces, it has massive low end with lots of definition. The overdriven channel is pretty cool, and lots of options with the cold/hot fusion mode.

I need to spend time ot hook it up with my C.A.B simulator. I've got two gigs next weeks and will use both for the first time. I'll keep you posted.
