Two Notes Le Bass Players Club

Quite literally, yours sounds like a defective unit.

It should take approximately 3-seconds for the tube warmer in Le Bass to bank enough power from the CS7.

Additionally Le Bass should not be generating the noise with other pedals as you have described.

Sweetwater takes great care of its customers and a replacement unit to you for this weekend's gig is still a possibility.

Cheers!
Hey Charlie. Will give you an update.
Sweetwater wanted me to utilize the effects loop for my pedals. Tried that.
It takes about 13 seconds for me to be able to turn on the Le bass once I plug the TrueTone in. During the 13 seconds, seizure activity continues with the audio flicker/click getting louder and louder until I can turn the Le bass. Everything works well after that.
I wonder what that would do live through an XLR?
Still thinking it's defective? Should I get a Y for the True tone?
Thanks
Casey

@LeeHend great to hear your experience in what is an awesome pedal to my mind.
I have similar settings on mine gain about 2-3 o'clock, Bass about 1 o'clock and treble at about 4o'clock, volume about 11 o'clock
I can actually get mine to break up ever so slightly, but that is when I am using my G&L L1500 bass which is pretty hot.

Completely agree though, it's a great versatile pedal where you can be warm and cuddly one moment, rich and full another and downright dirty in a couple of stomps with no dial switching.
It also works well with other Distortion engines, paired with my Darkglass amp both circuits on I managed to get harmonics between the 2 ever so subtly.

V happy

Thanks for the update!

You had last mentioned noise playing with other pedals. That combined with a 13-second warm-up is a pedal I believe may have an issue, specifically with its tube or tube-related circuity. These things happen and I would return it for exchange given that my Le Bass (and others) does not exhibit the same.

The seizure activity is being caused by the tube warmer in Le Preamp pedals that draws an enormous amount of current for a brief moment while it boots up from a cold start (i.e. has been unpowered for more than a few minutes.) Once the tube is sufficiently warmed, the warmer turns off, current draw stabilizes to the expected level and the CS7 can breathe normally again (i.e. the seizures stop.)

You can help mitigate the seizure flashing by connecting your Polytone and MXR Compressor to the two dedicated 9V @ 500mA taps on the right side of the CS7. These outputs are immune to the above trauma and will improve your experience dramatically.

... but I'd exchange your Le Bass after this weekend's gig! ;)

You are on the money. Another Update.
Sweetwater says I am wiring it wrong. Two Notes doesn't know why and thinks it's the TrueTone.
I spoke with TrueTone this afternoon. Very cool guy Dana. Like you said a lot of power coming in the first seconds. He wants me to basically do what you said. Move the plugs to the right.
He said that if that does not work, he will send me another one. If that is not it we are back to the Le Bass.
Getting a little frustrated but TrueTone is taking some action.
Thanks for all the input, advice and time!

I had some time today to further play with the speaker sim option on the XLR out. I really love the tone and the convenience of it.

If there were a push-button switch to also (and separately) engage it on the 1/4" out I would be so happy!

Two-Notes @Basstyra , for V2.0 of the Le Preamp pedals, please add the push-button switch above and also change to more legible knobs. I would upgrade purchase immediately!

Cheers!

Hey Charlie.
Time for another update.
Sweetwater sent me another Le Bass and TrueTone another CS7. The New Le Bass improved the seizures and signal noise, but the new CS7 made everything like new. No issues at this time.
Dana from TrueTone was amazing to work with. I give TrueTone my endorsement for what it's worth!
Sweetwater eventually came around as well as Two Notes.
Thank you to all that gave advice and helped me through this process to find a solution.
Y'all be good!

Dana and the gang at TrueTone are top-notch!

As you experienced, they immediately stepped-up to send you a replacement CS7 free of charge where others exhibited resistance or finger-pointing.

Now that all is well, pay it forward and enjoy the ride. ;)

Cheers!

No it works on Channel A and surprinsingly it also works when I engage the Fusion mode...I also have a high pitched noise coming from the Torpedo CAB at all times. I contacted TrueTone and they have already answered.

With this said, I do not believe the issue is with the CS7.

TrueTone no doubt will step-up, offer assistance and most likely offer to ship you a free replacement CS7, but I bet the farm that the issue is with the tube or tube-related circuitry in Le Bass. In your case, an unusually high current draw situation is presenting itself only when Channel B is engaged and the "reset" ("blinking", "seizure") is the CS7 trying to recover from this fatal condition.

Please keep us posted as to the resolution of the problem.

Cheers!

I have to add to this forum that @CharlieC is a bit of a legend, always answers quickly with really good advice which is usually right, and I am not paid to endorse him. He helped me out previously.

Good man
