U.N.C.L.E.

How many of you ever heard some of David McCallum's bizarre songs?

And 'My Carousel' seems to have been written by the Carry On film actor Jim Dale, which is even odder. The backing sounds a bit like the music that 1960s films often had people at parties dancing too when I am sure it would normally have been Beatles, Rolling Stones, and The Troggs in reality. Plus a bit of Procul Harum and Moody Blues late in the evening.

His delivery is rather more impassioned than, say, Shatner's Version of Pulp's 'Common People' but somewhat comparable. Except that Shatner's obviously not being entirely serious. That having been said, I prefer Shatner's version to the original due to the additional post-modern irony.

I had a Man From UNCLE gun when I was a kid. it did it all. Radio, rifle, pistol, etc, and it really could shoot real bullets.

I was like 7 years old so yes, the bullets were totally real. Killed my little sister several times with em.

This one? I got it for Christmas a l-o-n-g time ago.

the trailer i saw last week at a theater leaves me not the slightest hope that this movie is going to deliver. napoleon is a guy who messes things up in a humorous way, he and illya hate each other when they meet in a lackluster "i hate the guy from the other country" way, and the list goes on and on. the longish trailer i saw made it seem like a generic half-assed modern comedy/action movie that they stuck the names of the characters on to make more ticket sales :(

Emma Peel and Honor Blackman! Mmmm. Oh wait we're talking the Man from U.N.C.L.E. I have very low expectations for this movie. Hollywood's track record with remakes is pretty poor. One of my fav scenes on NCIS is when someone asks Gibbs what Ducky was like when he was young. Gibbs replies that he was like Illya Kuryakin. Made me grin. Been watching episodes of "Hustle" on BBC with Robert Vaughn as Albert Stroller, con man emeritus. Good stuff.
