Quite agree Chuck. Please don't tell anyone but I think the later Foundations with the single coils in the PU shells that look like humbuckers sound better than Super Ferrites.
Please don't tell anyone but I think the later Foundations with the single coils in the PU shells that look like humbuckers sound better than Super Ferrites. That said, the SF PU's have a unique tone and for some reason this one that arrived today seems to sound even better than the last few I have had.
Foundations are great basses. All of them!
The Foundation and Patriot SF pickups have that unique great aggro-edge to their sound.View attachment 4162672

Generally I prefer warmer alnico mag pickups. The C 5 mag in the later Foundation is closer than the , I suspect, C 8 in earlier models. Being Strontium Ferrite both share the same initials of SF![]()
Strangely, I seem to be running out of GAS.Oh no...gas is kickinin"! I have always wondered about the later models.
Are those the original pickups and trim rings?
Yes. Everything is original on this one.Are those the original pickups and trim rings?
Very cool. I like it!Yes. Everything is original on this one.
Me too, for the most part. For the FIRST time in YEARS, maybe a decade, I'm "done". I own all the basses I've wanted. I'm sure I'll see a "must have" someday, but for now, I'm not seeking... Except for another graphite neck to build a P/J.@58kites
I'm another with no GAS . It's over a year since I bought a bass, unlikely to buy another.
Same here..my GAS buying yearning days are done, although having said that, 2 weeks ago I bought the wife a Kala U-Bass to keep her fingers busy, so they are not plying their way into my wallet.Me too, for the most part. Sadly the same here 21/2/18 was the last bass I bought@58kites

Gee a mahogany patriot does sound nice... I’m definitely still all gassed up, I just got one of those new epiphone embassy basses, and I also have a very special foundation in transit to me...Not me! I still want a Foundation S and a 2000 and a Mahogany Patriot or Foundy...and a and a...I'm still sick!
