Downbeat in a few minutes. Took a pic of this baggage tag still on my case that Stu Cook signed when he went to Reno at some point.

Need the Peavey hive mind input on this one.

2nd gen Dyna5 at local pawn shop....off the scale on the grungy factor...someone had spilled something on it at some point and it was literally all over it...you would think someone might have wiped it down. Took them 15 minutes to find me a cord to test it.

Pros...finish is pretty good with only a couple blems (assuming the crud comes off). Truss cover seems like it has not been cracked although action is high but does not appear to be a ski jump or twist.

Cons.... bridge pickup dead. Pots scratchy as hell. Gold hardware.

I offered $100. Lowest they would go was $150. I walked. What would you have done?
Can you even get a replacement pickup for one of these?

I saw that one on FB not too long ago, if it was a Dyna 4 I'd probably have gone for it but I can't get into a 5. Bummer to hear about the dead pickup, though.

JUMP on it ! A pickup is easy to replace. That's a bargain. I got my (now favorite) Cirrus from GC Used for $299 !!! It had a dead pickup and someone put a pickguard on it using HUGE fence screws. No joke.
I had the pickup at home already in my box-o-parts, changed it in 30 mins, filled the holes with walnut wood filler and it's like a $1,000 Cirrus again.

My concern is there's a chance there could be electronics issues and with the stuff spilled all over it and the pots being super scratchy...I don't know. Plus this isn't really a sought after bass like a Cirrus.

Doesn't look that tough... for $150, its a good beater bass

Sure, I get it. It would be a "because I like it" bass, not a flipper or something like Cirrus.

I missed a chance years ago on a damaged Cirrus 4 (maple) It had been dropped and the finish on the back was trashed. Everything else was fine, nice hard case. If would have been mine for $275, but I got distracted by a damaged Taylor 612ce for $250. I fixed that and flipped it, made almost $1K. I should have bought both.

@Runnerman I personally would buy that thing and change all the hardware to black...Im sure the pickup issue can be resolved, however the great thing about those gen2 Dynas is they sound great passive, and that active/passive switch would take care of any concerns about the preamp, cause I don't even run mine active...I think it sounds killer passive.
Hows the finish on it?
