Awkward balance point. Foam that degrades to gunk. Lousy to stack if storing with rectangular cases.

My Foundations came with cases -- one the "challenging" rectangular wood case, the other a synthetic vacuum-formed case that isn't so bad.
The worse case ordeal I have faced was with my most recent Gretsch purchase. Somebody had made -- made -- a rectangular wooden case for a Gretsch 6070. It took me and the UPS guy both to get it from the receiving center and into the back of my station wagon. And getting it from the car into the house had me so worn out I had to lie down and rest for 45 minutes.
I'm considering putting sawhorses under the case and making a workbench out of it.

You make good points. I have a few where the lining is still perfect and a couple with the lining removed.
Up-side is they protect the bass well.

Yes, the first ones with the lining are great. The ones with just the degrading foam can be renewed by cleaning out the old foam, cutting up a yoga mat and putting under the body, the neck and over the strings on the opposite side. Glued in with spray adhesive. I've done this with one case and have another sitting in the garage that needs to be done.

Yet over in the UK these sell for buttons.
Lad in England had no interest when asking $180 so he dropped the price to $130, still gathered no interest.
It finally sold on Wednesday, eBay $121.
It is a first generation with the lightning knobs...but agree, still high.

I really like those 83/84 Foundations.
I also really like those chainsaw cases. I relined my Patriot case (quickly and poorly--but it works!) with some 1/2" carpet foam and lime green soft flannel that was on clearance at the craft store. I used 3M 30NF adhesive as it worked so well when I was rewrapping drums. As for the storage, I can get all my wrenches in there, a spare set of strings (or two) and a string winder. The strap fits alongside the neck in that area that doesn't have foam that runs along the fingerboard. No real need for more than that in the case, cable and such go in the gig case.

I want a 5 string Jazz-O-Stone please. Do they make those pups in a 5er configuration? Are there any 5er Milestone's out there? I would gig the u-no-what out of it. My wife will not be happy about this.

Technically, wouldnt a 5 string Milestone just be an Axcelerator 5?
Was the Milestone line meant to be the affordable import version of the Axcelerator line? I played a few Milestones fours back in the day and felt the necks were very comfy for such affordable bases. Never noticed if there was a 5 in the series.This is EXACTLY why I don't have a wife
