U.S. Peavey Club

You guys remember my Ash Foundation score about 6 months ago. It had finish issues on the back due to the melting case foam and about the ugliest thumb rest installation of all time??? Reminder....

The good news is that's its going into my luthier this Saturday and he is confident he can do a fix on it that only I would be able to see knowing where the screw holes are. So I'm pretty excited. I've used it on a couple gigs and it's just killer. I'll be using it on a whole lot more when it's pretty again. I'll post pics when she's done.

Still a nice looking Foundation though :).

To the guy who installed that thumb rest……what kind of drugs was he on??!! Seriously, how could you even play ANYTHING on the G, or even the D, with your thumb there? Maybe his fingers were 8 inches long…

Nevertheless is a GREAT looking bass!

I was just on the Peavey Forum, and Kodiakblair said I can switch my BXP neck for my Foundation neck and it's a direct fit. I'm gonna try it !!!
Cool! Good luck with the swap. FWIW, Every neck swap I have done with Dynas, Foundations T45s and Patriots worked out perfectly. Never tried an import neck on a US Peavey, but if anyone has, it's KB!
Gotta love parts compatibility. I have a 86 Toyota Van that shares probably 90% of parts with the whole era of Vans from 84-90.

No affiliation, not even sure if it's a particularly good price, but a sweet looking G Bass in Eugene, OR.

And a nice looking Axcelerator in the same town...

Same seller. Someone should make an offer for a two-fer red bass deal. That would make a phenomenal pairing as gig basses.

Had a Millennium AC neck on a Foundation body for years.

Ronnie (mech) had a Milestone neck on something too, got a picture in my mind it was a 40.
I remember you suggesting that AC neck to others many, many pages ago in this thread.
I think I remember Mech's bass, I think you are right, it was a T40 with the 20 fret Milestone neck.
Somebody here in town put a Fender Tele Bass neck on a T40. It worked OK. It had the 20 frets and square heel.

This is Indonesian rather than USA made but I am pretty happy with this bass. The PU's are the same as used in the Cirrus basses but the preamp is one of those potted in a rectangular plastic case. The tone is quite good with some of the mids rolled off. I installed a fresh set of D'Adarrio XL's and did a set up on it. The bridge has the same kind of adjustments as the ABM used on the Cirrus but the intonation set screw is placed too far under the string so you have to loosen the string and move it out of the way to get at the screw. The bass set up nicely but some of the saddles are as low as they can go. The fingerboard appears to be Pau Ferro and is nicely figured.

All in all it is a nice sounding and great playing bass for a low price.

Has anyone found replacement pickups that sound similar to VFLs? I have an Ibanez EHB multi scale with P4-sized import Barts, and I’m hoping to make it sound a little closer to the middy tone of the Cirrus I used to have. I realize the pickups aren’t in the same position, but I’m hoping to get in the same ballpark.

A rumor that Modulus made the necks for the G bass and the GV has persisted for a while, ...and folks tend to repeat the rumor when they want to sell their G basses.
It likely started because the B Quad basses had Modulus necks, somebody concluded that was also the case with the G Basses, and it is not the case.
Bell & Carlson made the necks.
