Keeping it mono since I have no use for RicRiot-O-Sound.
The extra pickup really brings a lot to the table. You can get the bridge growl, the neck thickness and the cool, scooped middle position. It certainly a familiar, but different and complimentary tone to a Foundation.
That looks like a real nice one....it's a "custom" (add bonus points). It's a cool uncommon finish (more bonus points). Cast P knobs (still more points). Early script logo decal (points). I suspect it hasn't moved yet because it's priced at the high end of the range for a Fury. To me, that means it's going to need to find a "Peavey enthusiast", as opposed to just someone looking for a Pbass that doesn't say Fender on the headstock and is priced well below a MIM Fender.
Also, the question was asked about its weight. That's an important detail for many on this forum. AFAIK, that question was never answered, so those interested in the weight aspect have moved on. When weight is not mentioned in a listing, and then not answered when specifically asked about, people assume it's probably..."not light".
Plus when offered for sale or trade, it's assumed that the price is set higher than typical street price...a.k.a "trade value". Trade value is tricky, and sometimes translates as..."I'd prefer to sell, but I'm willing to trade for something I don't need or want, if it's of higher value".
Personally, I think $450 is a fair price for that Fury nowadays. If I was in the market for another one, that one would be "the one" I'd be after. But then, I appreciate all the special little Peavey details involved and place value there, just like a few others on this forum. I suspect we're part of a small minority with very esoteric tastes, like "niche people". (is that a band name already?
)
I grabbed that as soon as I saw it posted. My first bass was an early 90s Fury that I absolutely destroyed, I couldn't even get a pawn shop to buy it, I sold it to a guy in the parking lot of the pawn shop for 20$ haha! Anyway, I've been casually looking for a Fury but prices are usually higher than I'd like to pay. This one looks like it might need a little love but at 199$ and with GC's return policy it seemed like it was worth a shot. I'll post an update once it arrives.

SWEET !!! So you're the guy who bought that beauty. That sunburst looks great. I forgot if it's an ash body, or not. I'm so glad it "stayed in the family". That was a killer price, too. I got my script logo Fury from GC Used for the same price a month ago or so and I LOVE it so much. I put half rounds on it, too. Congrats brotha !

So tempting and definitely GAS kicking in again with this one for me. I really want a nice Patriot to round out my Peavey collection (3 Foundations and one Fury) and this looks nice. Prefer a color other than white, however, which is like my Fury. Trying hard to resist the urge!

Mine was white, too. It actually looks GREAT in your hands. My Dyna is also white, as is my Millennium. I wasn't planning it that way, but I took what I could get and I've grown to like it a lot. Plus, my first real bass was a white P/J, so I guess I do like white
You want info on the neck before any purchase is made , cast iron return policy too.
Quite a few Patriot owners have reported neck problems , myself included.

Interesting and good to know. Is there something inherently different with the Patriot necks, as opposed to the Foundations or Furys, that made them susceptible to problems?
I'm not opposed to white and I really love it on my one Foundation, although that is the pure white and an upgraded paint I believe? The Patriot likely has same white that my Fury has, which has faded to more of an antique white now over time. It's not bad either. Just like to have a variety I guess.Mine was white, too. Also, what are your thoughts (and others can chime in as well for sure) on this video and diagnosis?
I apologize if it has been posted in this forum before. Any validity to this claim? What percentage are like this with a problem truss rod positioning? I always believed the ski jump was due more to the micro-tilt being used incorrectly, no?
Foundations , Furys and Patriots all used the same necks , the only differences being the decals.
The Patriot problem I have likely stems from a bad batch of maple.
I'd say a large percentage. Peavey were knocking out 500 units per day . By the time any issues started being reported : 1000s will have shipped. Guitar companies don't do product recalls , they just hope for the best
If you were unlucky and had a neck issue for Pete's sake don't split the neck in two
Truss rods can be replaced by "keyhole surgery" I've sat on this for long enough , normally I PM folks.
Old Chip had a method to replace truss rods . I vaguely remembered it getting mentioned but not all the details so contacted a couple of folk who kept in touch with Chip. It's a simple method , involving a hammer , drill and some mole grips.
What follows has been copy/pasted from Chip's email.
Warning ! May cause distress to those of a nervous disposition.
"To replace a T-series truss rod, drill a 1/2" hole in the butt end of the neck; halfway between the mounting surface and the arched fret board surface.
The drill will tell you when you have drilled deep enough as you'll hear the bit contact the butt end steel anchor. Then use a brass or aluminum rod the same diameter as the truss rod to drive the rod out the butt end. When you get about an inch of rod sticking out the butt end, use a bench vise or Vicegrip pliers to pull the rod out the butt end.
Affix the butt anchor to the new rod and drive the new rod into the butt end after having smeared some epoxy around the anchor.
Put some more epoxy into the drilled surface to hold a bit of 1/2" Maple dowel in the hole. Saw or file the 1/2" dowel off flush with the butt end and spray some clear lacquer over the end.
The new truss rod should be threaded on the peghead end to 10-32 thread."

Yikes, that does create a bit of anxiety reading that! As far as the necks being the same, weren't there some differences in the Patriot vs. the others? I thought the neck profile was slightly different and the width at the nut was wider (on most of those) as well? Could be mistaken, however.
I've struggled with my Patriot neck since I bought it probably 5 years ago. I seem like I get it just the way I want it and it shifts again. It was strung with Fender flats when I bought it and had sat probably 25 of it's 30 years in a case strung up under tension. It has had a mild ski jump and slight twist at different times and I keep thinking I've got it right and it drifts again. It's the only Peavey neck I've ever had trouble with. I still have hope for it though.
Not a USA model, but it seems like it's pretty cheap (I may be wrong on that....)

I was working retail when the Grinds first came out. The first generation were made in Vietnam, and they were pretty dang nice! Shoulda nabbed one of the fives or sixers back then... At that time, a big chunk of my paycheck went right back to the store...

Same. In the 80’s I was into their PA stuff. I bought a used xr600b powered mixer for my high school band.
Then, in the mid 90’s I got my first 5 string. A Peavey Forum 5. Super underrated here, but one of the best 5 string necks in the world. It made me a bass player.
