Two fans

And on the heat sink I saw some I think voltage caps that had screws up to hold them down which was interesting

Really well-made amp
I want to open up for fun just to see why it didn’t help that heft everyone else talks about LOL


Really I’m liking the probass over the fire

I'm right there with ya....I wasn't a fan of the Firebass, but I loved my T-Max

So the 199$ GC Fury arrived today, very loosely boxed up. Lot of pros and cons:

Pros: Ridiculous stickers were already removed, and its reasonably light, just under 8lbs.
Cons: Truss rod cover is mysteriously missing, the tone pot shaft is broken and there are dings along the fretboard edge.
Pros: Love the neck shape and it sounds good, really good.
Cons: The neck is shimmed due to the truss rod issue that has been discussed here. And unfortunately it looks like the original pickups and controls were replaced with I don’t know what.

I realize it was inexpensive but I don’t know if it’s even worth keeping with all that going on. Thoughts?

Plus One Vote for the Lujon $199 Fury. Sounds like all easy fixes and truss rod covers are way overrated, yet easy to bend from an old cover, or just make one from cardboard and black tape if it's that much of an issue. I've done it before just for the heck of it and it looks fine.

Keep it !!! A USA made Pbass for $199. No brainer.

The base is always worth keeping especially with flats my first one I bought and literally took it to a gig the same hour

had nickel rounds and an EMG select P pick up
I bought another one fairly recently I put in an Aguilar pick up AG 60
And cobalt flat wounds

if you can fix the truss rod or any issues you might have… lemme tell ya
It’s better than paying 1549 from Sweetwater for an AMERICAN PRECISION bass with a split coil

I vote to keep the $199 Fury. It feels and sounds good, so keep it. The issues seem to just be consumable parts. Replace the tone pot (the pots appear to be original, as do the caps). I would happily drop a few bucks on pots, knobs and a truss rod cover.

A few short years ago would get you a minty fresh Fury for $199. Now, it gets you one that needs a little work. Even after replacing everything mentioned above and getting a chainsaw case, you would still have a US made P bass for around $300-350. Pretty hard to beat!

That is a really nice Fury. I am happy that you have decided to keep it. I believe the electronics in the bass are original.

I'd bet your USA Fury will be nicer than my USA Fender Pbass...

Why do I keep it? Cuz there are silly folks that need to see USA Fender on a gear list.... funny most of my PBass demo was done on an Indonesian Milestone.

For Reference - 2014 USA Fender American Special Precision - Hand Stained Honey Burst (as close to a fury as fender gets)

A few years back, I did a 99% stealthed out Fury (strings, hardware, painted neck, Bart pickup, tape wounds etc.)... Went to Stuart ... way cool bass... only white on it was headstock, dots and a ring around the pickguard---- couldn't have gone to a better home.

So ... I get hired by an Americana song writer... "get a Pbass"... through a bunch of stupidity... he wanted USA 4 string "old looking"

I must have tried 400 USA pbasses... all of them were worse than Stuart's new stealthy Fury. An insider told me about a short run where Guitar Center requested something that felt like a Fury and had nitro finish.

Of course, I then had to dump cash into pickguard, ashtray, strings etc. (pix is not mine)
