U.S. Peavey Club

Yea RJ are good once the bridge is solved... and someone has the time to setup the EQ
Yeah, mine has a black BABICZ and the EQ I just moved the dip switches 'til I found a better sound. That took all of 2 minutes. I LOVE that preamp. It's the same one in the 2nd gen (?) Dyna, the one that has VFL's. Maybe P/J, but I'm not sure.

Lobster !!! Welcome to our neck of the woods. You're gonna love the Cirrus MORE each day.

Agree 1000% !!! My RJIV is boutique level, for sure. It practically plays itself, I just guide it.

Thank you! Having started my bass journey in the early 2000's and being very active on here at the time (my username used to be 'Whafrodamus'), the Cirrus definitely holds a special place in my heart. It's really interesting to play one nearly two decades later with a lot more perspective. I'm really excited to explore this Cirrus as thoroughly as possible :)

I've never been a fan of his sound (especially on Metal Health). Muddy and undefined IMO. I'm not sure what bass he used to record that album or what equipment he used at the time. I would assume is was his Aria Pro. He appears to attack the strings really hard but still no reason for a weak preamp or pickups. Maybe Peavey went for a match to the electronics on the Aria Pro?
He didn't play on Metal Health. It was Chuck Wright. He joined after the record was done, IIRC.

I also have a Cirrus project going if you ever feel like looking at ever changing modification plans and us getting off topic with odd jokes.

Peavey Fury near me for $200, black with maple fingerboard. Marker and stickers on the pickguard, and looks like paper under the E string at the nut. Worth taking a look at? I definitely don't need one, but...

Looking up close, it's got a Babicz bridge. Sent an offer!

So, what is the difference between the RJ and the Dyna Unity?
RJ-IV has a different preamp; Dyna Unity ships with the original Dyna preamp, RI's have 2nd gen pre . Active pickups, Dynabasses ship with passive , so there's no active/passive option. Neck radius and neck profile are different. Hardware differs, Hipshot + generic vs Schaller. Finally the RJ-IV has a smaller body with a different shape.

Apart from those the only difference is cosmetic
