Years go I played a Fury and liked it, but didn't buy it, and I still don't know why. Kinda been wanting one for a while and found one on Marketplace in Pulaski, Va, far from me, but only one hour from my nephew. The old standard black with white PG, but I knew it would respond to some sprucing up. Finally bought it, sound unheard, for $200. Turns out the guy knew nothing about it, but it came in a storage unit he bought and he just wanted to unload it. Sister brought it up when she came for a wedding. No telling how long it sat in that storage unit, but it is practically unblemished except for a small scratch on the back. Plugged it in and bingo, sounded great with those old roundwounds on it. Got a new black/cream/black pickguard and a set of 9120M Fenders coming for it. Always had Fender P basses...non expensive...but this baby has a good chance of becoming my "go to" bass. Really liking it so far.

Happy New Year! Love some PV. Picked up this 1980 T-40 w chain saw case last year at Sam Ash in Charlotte, NC for $600. Get this, it weighs exactly 9 lbs! Speaking of Cirri. Does anyone have an idea of the original pricing on the USA ones? I seem to remember in the 1K-1.2k range...but could be wrong.

I'm wondering if they have exceeded the original new pricing now.

Not sure, but when I started my journey a couple of years ago to find a nice Cirrus, I stopped in at my only local Mom & Pop music store and they had a new, never sold, Redwood 4 still in the store for $1600

Awesome story, Hammertime ! I don't blame you one bit. It's really hard to beat an old USA Fury when it comes to a classic, passive pbass.

I have some Peavey parts to sell if anybody wants/needs.
PM me and I can send pics and you can tell me what you think is a reasonable number (and I can agree or not).

-Loaded 1992 Foundation neck, maple/maple, with the clover tuners, truss rod cover, and string tree.

-1992 Foundation body, red Peavey paint has been sanded off, ready for refinish.
The back cavity cover, strap pins/screws, neck plate/screws, output jack plate are all in a bag to go with it.

-T40 Toaster pickup, trim ring, screws.

-Two sets of the chrome Schaller tuners (I was calling Grover Titans for a long time).
These are ones that have the two locating pins that hide under the plate.
One set is pristine.
The other set have seen some battle in the bars and are slightly bent but work fine.

Would love to know who sets his prices for those ridiculous listings. We know that many will price higher on eBay, hoping to get some fool. But these prices aren't even in the ballpark of being realistic!

IIRC original street price for Cirrus was in the $1600-$1800 area depending on features and number of strings. The original street price for my Millennium 5plus was in the $1400-$1500 ballpark. Bought it new on a sale weekend w/coupon for around $1100 if I remember correctly. But that was over 20 years ago.

Gosh let's hope not some rich, ignoramus sees his overpriced "bought from a celebrity" $2,199 T-40's and his $150 bass strings ! Then he will feel that he is doing something warranted, which we know he is not.

I just saw he has a Fender jazz bass for $9,900 listed as "owned by Gunter H" so he IS delusional !

Then again, the new 40th Anniversary Squier Pbasses are $599, so maybe they run in the same circles.

When I worked at GC years ago, I would waste all kinds of time on the Cirrus custom builder site. I would've totally ordered one, considering my employee discount. Annoyingly, I was basically poor back then!

I forgot to list a used Peavey Fury single ply black Gen 3 Fury pickguard.

Other parts that are not Peavey but might be of interest for mods to our various Peavey and other basses.

I've got two Hipshot A Style bridges in the chrome over brass finish. Both in new condition. $65 each.
I've got a Seymour Duncan Blackouts for Bass Pre-Amp Concentric Two-Band new in packaging. $50.
I've got an EMG BTC Stacked Two-Band Pre-Amp $70.

That is a REALLY NICE bass ...to me it's worth more than a USA Fender Precision.
Beautiful ash body that has a nicer shape than a Precision body IMO.
The awesome sounding Slant Super Ferrite pickup.
The cool lightning P knobs.
The cool trapeziodal bridge, put a set of Wilkinson saddles on that plate and that bridge is great.
The great Peavey neck.

The only Fender Precision Bass I have here is a Squier CV 50's Precision (54P with the single coil pickup).
My split P's are Furys and a couple of Yamahas, all of which kick azz over a Precision IMO.

USA Fender (Similar Vibe to Fury)


I received a PM asking which USA Fender was close to a Fury. Replying here - may help someone.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the closest we can get in neck profile and Fury vibe.

Disclosure, I do not know much about Fenders. To the best of my knowledge, this unicorn was a short run for Guitar Center. This model may have temporarily replaced the Highway 1?

Currently, they're selling for $1100-1200 USD.

I'm confident someone will debunk my findings -- that's cool.

For Sale/Trade Peavey Fury

I'm gonna make a strong guess that it has sat in the classifieds for so damn long because the perception is that he is asking too much for that bass.
It's crazy but I'm sure that's why.

Below is my Gen 2 Fury (Peavey calls it '62 Custom Blue) and I think it is a great bass.
I recently changed the hardware to black so mine looks even closer to the one that is for sale.
Eventually I will put a custom color pickguard from Mike Quick at Quickguards on mine.

I strip it and I’m trying to separate the inner white wire from the ground but I think I’m causing a short

so I’m trying to re do it but I feel like it still gets caught or has fine strands somewhere

I saw these on Amazon. They are not exact, but close enough for T-40 type replacement tuners and they're affordable at $30 or so.
