I'm going to try to shield my Patriot bass this weekend. It's my first time doing this, wish me luck!
Good luck! I highly recommend, if you're using copper foil, to tack the pieces together with a bit of solder. It flows almost instantly, but sometimes I have to do a blob on each piece, and drag them together to form the bond. I'm just not sold on the longevity of the conductive adhesive, and this helps me sleep at night lol

Thanks! I may or may not try that. Depends on how lazy I am, how neat my work is.... idk! Also, I did buy the cheap stuff...
The pickup is noisiest when I'm practicing at home, my setup has it next to multiple computers, audio interface, and everything else that makes interference. I've only had pretty minor noise on stage.

Good luck ! It's VERY easy to do, just take your time. Are you going to use copper foil ? Just cut it roughly to shape, lay an end down and pull off the backing as you go or it will all curl up like a ribbon.

I didnt pull the backing as I went, it worked out ok. Just try to not let it curl up on itself too much, I smoothed it out with my finger with an old polish cloth wrapped around it. Project bass with a GV neck, the foil is pretty smooth, it's the routing that's not flat.

took the bridge off, turns out there's a 10nF cap between the bridge and the wire, which was why it looked like no continuity. But continuity was fine from the controls to the bridge cap. Measured the cap itself gave 9.6nF on my multi meter so I guess it's all fine?? Somehow a cap being there never had occurred to me. Put the bridge back and the capacitance is the same between bridge and input jack.
 
- Pickup hot to jack tip
- Pickup ground to jack sleeve and battery negative (or you can go to the jack ring, it's still ground)
- Pickup red to battery red.
It will work off of 9V
I wired it 18 as I had it wire and easy to move over

anyways
With a meter . I get 18 at the pickup and voltage


Only noise and no sound. And takes 10 secs to turn On
