Hey! First time posting on the thread. Finally completed my VB collection this year.
- The VB-2 needed a lot of work. Recap, new 6CA7EHs, F1/F2 fuse mod, and a massive cleaning. Added RGB 5050 leds for flare. Bullet Proofed for a long while I reconn!
- The VB-3, low hours, 2nd owner. OEM Ruby Tubes are good but overdrive was a bit harsh/ratty. Clean tone amazing. Swapped out a full EHX set with 6CA7s. Amp has some even more serious balls to it! It even mellowed the OD channel a bit to my liking. Also fixed the noisy XLR DI Post EQ so many had issues with. Easy mod but took awhile for John and I to figure out.
- VB-MA, well just got this a few months ago...NOS!!! Less than 50 were ever made. I'm sure MA has more of them in storage somewhere. Crown jewel of my collection for sure. The blend channel really works well. Can't afford 6CA7s for this amp right now, but knowing how much those tubes bring out the tone of the VB-3, I know eventually it will make this amp even more amazing.
The MAX700 has been my go to for nearly 17 years gigging. Now the MiniMega handles most of my gigs. The VBs come out for the special gigs I want that amazing looking head to really just show off.
Main bass is a MM Ray4HH, but I have 9 total basses, with my 10th coming tomorrow (but its an acoustic electric guitar instead) as a gift from the wife for our anniversary.
Got a 200+ house party my guitar player is having for the 4th. 5 bands including my own playing, and I'm doing sound with the SP2/SP118/FX2 PA system. Gonna be a hoot I'm sure of it!
Cheers Peavey enthusiasts!
