Ha, I didnt even notice the 3 longer keys didnt have a logo. I was too distracted by the damage and filth on the gears
PRICES --- remember a few years ago when my T-40 sold with Maple & Fretless Neck (matching serial number)?
I put up for "best offer over $800" --- someone paypalled $1200 within a few minutes... y'all hog piled on the buyer for being silly.

I rarely change my strings (messes with the sound crew). I installed Stainless exposed core... all I can say is bombastic.

Since TRACE ELLIOT is under the Peavey umbrella, have you seen the announcement of the new cabs ? They look pretty cool. I'm not looking at new cabs, just window shopping.

That bass and necks were just mentioned on Ultra-rare Peavey T-40 on Reverb thread. I think the OP of the thread has them. Everyone on the thread is like "I have/had a T40"...but no pictures. A bunch of rule breakers ova'dair!
OK, so my similar-ish story, with bonus back story.
Back story: my first new bass was a Dyna Unity Koa, in about 1989. Played it lots. Loved it. It just fit me. Ended up trading it for a P bass and a half in 93ish. P bass and a half goes like this. 70s ash/maple P bass. Guy buys a candy apple red aftermarket body, EMG pickup, bridge, and uses the P neck on it. He traded me that parts bass, plus the original loaded P body for my Koa.
Ok, so 25 years go by, and I find myself collecting Peavey basses. I fondly remember that Dyna, and set out looking for one. I ended up finding two almost back to back. Grabbed both of them. Cleaned them up, put a hipshot D tuner on one, etc.
So, I'm allergic to four string, and I've been thinking of thinning the herd a little. Hadn't really thought about selling any of the Koa basses. In the Peavey Bass group on FB, this lady posted a story. Short version, father in law had a Koa, it got away from him. He's dead, his son/her husband wants a bass like dad had, etc. I told her I had two, could let one go. Sent her pics, and screenshots of two recent sales, at $700 and $799. Frankly, I was going to ask for $800. She offered $1200. Sold. We just closed the deal this evening. She got her bass, I got my money. Errybody is happy.

You mention the fretless was lifeless, that surprises me for some reason. I've had a couple FL foundy's that were pretty lively...much better than the squier FL Jbass I had.

No affiliation, but after buying Chuck’s Foundation 5, I can say this is a great deal, especially if you get it for a lower offer. (His ad says $250 obo)
I didn’t like the narrow pickups that made the G-string weak, but after installing a set of Bartolini 6-string Quad-Coils, this bass has easily filled my 5-string needs and stopped me from buying another big $$ Sadowsky - for now.
I’ve done a complete 180 with my view of Peavey basses over the years, and of my five basses, four are Peaveys.
No affiliation, but after buying Chuck’s Foundation 5, I can say this is a great deal, especially if you get it for a lower offer. (His ad says $250 obo)

Yeah, my 85 fretless Foundy that you ended up with was a great bass-growled and muah-ed like a champ! I regrettably sold it, but I only have mental and physical room for one fretless, which is my 99 Carvin BB75 that I had converted, which a very lively fretless.
As for T40 weights, I think it was discussed here many, many pages and years ago that just the hardware/electronics alone are about 5-6 (or so) pounds. I think the bridge is pushing 2 pounds and the pickups are a pound each. Then you add the 1-2 pound neck and a 5ish pound body...
I was looking for one of those for a while. Wanted to try the big single coil, 90s era 5er. A black one was my top preference. Missed out on a couple that sold for well under $200, pre-virus. In all sincerity, it's not a "fair" comparison.... I've owned Bogart Blackstones, Schaack etc.
This will get me roasted on this board, my former Squire Fretless (sunburst Jbass type) had more life than my former Foundation FL (s) - both generations.
And yes, I get that comparisons to European Carbon Fiber Botiques are not fair comparisons.
I agree 100%. The Foundation with the single coil VFL looking pickups has to be one of THE best passive basses to record. They are dead silent and cut through the mix while staying polite. So versatile.Peavey Foundation 1990s Black 5 String Bass with Maple Neck | Reverb

Picked up this 1990 fury on reverb. I’ve been wanting one to go with my foundation and this one looks exactly like my first bass. It has some flaming on the neck and I really like it.
