Apologies for the potentially dumb question but is one not able to get those open-string harmonics on a Ric? I don't have one to test it but is that a thing?

The Gen 1 / Gen 2 Fury body shape is my favorite bass shape.
I also think the Patriot shape is very good.

Who here likes all maple Peavey necks better than maple/rosewood Peavey necks?
Who here likes the 1.5 width Peavey necks better than the wider 1.75 ish nut width Peavey necks?

With 4 string Peavey fretboards, what is your preference... maple or rosewood?
With 4 string Peavey necks, what is your preference... the wider nut or the narrower nut?

Yes. It's a thing. Because of the pickup location, if you use only the neck pickup, those harmonics are virtually dead silent. If you have both pickups on or have the treble pickup solo'd they're there.
My all-time favorite Peavey neck profile: 1.5 inch width; 8 inch radius; bi-lam maple without a separate fingerboard; rolled edges. Lucky me . . . it just happens to be attached to my '88 Fury !!

My Yamaha basses have changed me to liking a wide nut with a shallow depth neck.
And I've grown to prefer (in the last year) rosewood fretboards on a bass, which was always the case with guitars.

What neck would you be describing?
The Yamaha Attitude basses have changed what feels best to me, now I want the wider Peavey necks and want a rosewood fretboard on them.

Well, I’m really describing the necks that I build for myself. So now I’m a bit off-topic I suppose….
I do have two Foundation bodies with homemade wide-shallow necks and ebony fretboards. So I’m half relevant!

I like the 1.5" nut width across the board. Rosewood and Maple I love 'em both. Bi-laminated or the shallow 90's necks....all wonderful to me.
The widest nut I can get along with is 1.675 which is what my Bongo and MIJ Precision have. My MIJ JB Special fretless neck is 1.5
I don't have a preference as far as playability goes but I do love the look of a dark Rosewood board....something just so vintagy about it. Peavey Rosewood boards were excellent quality, dark and even grain just like early Fenders. I don't like the look of my Bongo board nearly as much...EBMM must have used a lighter more patterned grade.

Lately I have been playing my old "smoker" Foundation (85). Thin neck RW board. I had it gone through and set-up lower than any bass I have ever had...plays like a dream, and has "the" sound. Whoever owned this before me played the sh't out of it, so the neck is like butter.
My second Gen Fury is a bit wider (1-5/8?) at the nut with a rounder profile, all maple neck. I'll never part with it easy to play and killer sound.

Yep! Love the tiny lil pencil necks of the Patriots! My Foundation S was killer too, but the neck on the RJ IV is perfection!

An extremely nice looking Axcelerator 5 string popped up on the GC used site today. It’s silver (!) …never have seen that finish on one.
