When did Peavey go from using pickup mounting rings to just mounting the super ferrite into the pickguard with 3 screws like the one jumbo posted?

I thought mine was an '87 but mine has the pickup ring and Titan tuners and his '85 has the fender style hardware and no ring.

It's a "roll" the pro shops sell it by the foot.

Commonly it's about 5/8 thick... enough to pad the bass...

REjects environmental issues.. doesn't hold water (like the original sponges).

The Patriot was marketed as a beginners bass (little did we know)... it was common for them to sit on the shelf for a long time.

Grover Titans were phased out... Part of the reason I really don't do the "what year is my bass" is that I've seen examples with known years have be made from another generation.... this may be a custom order or spare parts.

Generation is more important than the year.

First Generation had a ring.. this model morphed from the T20....

Like noted, during this production phase, we could call the factory (from a store) and speak to someone to spec the preferences.

I had a number once upon a time, but forgot it after I sold my T-40 a year or two ago (I didnt think id be able to get another usa peavey at that time) and after going back through the threads I couldnt find it. So I guess I should ask for a new one

That's been my experience too. Those tuners were on the early Foundations as well, before the Titans. And the T-20's and earliest Furies.

Thanks for confirming those machines were Schaller-sourced. Great tuners, I'd choose them over Hipshot, Sperzel, USA Grover, you name it. The adjustable lash is nice too.

Haven't seen them on anything other than old Peavey basses. Speaks volumes as to how Peavey spec'd out their hardware in the early days. And who doesn't love the cast metal "P" knobs?

I would have thought the titans were on them from the start, since peavey was using those tuners as early as '78 on the T-40, interesting that they started out with the cheaper tuners.

Totally agree with you Templar, they are the best tuners ive used hands-down. Scored a couple sets from ebay to put on my frankenbasses because I just cant get enough of them

Grover makes a similar set that are -almost- as good as well, and look identical except they use 2 mounting screws instead of the dimples.

The clovers were early on the t20s.... titans kept going through ... t40,t45,then later t20, patriot, foundation, fury.

I always request pix as some of the gererations didn't make sense.

That might work if I didn't have a car in the garage that needs put back together sitting next to a couple quads. Maybe I have too many toys.

More like explain that toys in your midlife groove,(it's no crisis) is better than a buxom 19yr old (for her anyway)

Yes, new numbers have been and are still being assigned. There just hasn't been periodic member list postings. I will try to put out a new list every few members in the future. I may have missed someone, but I believe that anyone who asked for a number has received one.
