Rookie ... back around December there was a thread discussing exactly this..
If I remember they were different.. It may have been polarity.
Wish I could be more of service on this.. I've yet to see a Ferrite failure.
Difference is in the magnetic polarity. One is "north" up and the other is "south" up. Coils are wound the same direction. In order to have a humbucking pair you have to have one of each magnetic polarity, otherwise, in the middle blend position, they will be out of phase and cancel.

My friend reverse polarity on both pickups in order to get the bridge functional again so clearly you guys have it right. Suppose I should consider buying this one. Could always reverse one or the other to get it to work with the existing pickup.
Before buying search "ferrite" on this thread.. there was a lengthy set of threads about a failed one and how it was repaired... around december.

I'll soon be the proud owner of this 1989 U.S.A. Fury. It sports a new gold pick guard from Pickguard Heaven and a full-on set up courtesy of MNAirhead!
The guard is cut from engraving material that is typically used for name plaques seen on office doors. Basically it's a black material with a thin layer of brushed gold on top.
I bought the bass on e-bay and had it shipped straight to MNAirhead. The original guard was a three ply white-black-white, but my vision for this bass was a late-50's Precision vibe. IMO, this guard nails it. I may replace the knobs with some traditional p-bass knobs, but these black rubber-band speed knobs actually tie in quite well with the black pup cover and the black border around the guard.
Many thanks to the legend, MNAirhead, whose legendary knowledge of USA Peaveys is the stuff of legend!

Visually I'd say black knobs balance the pickup covers.

Pretty sure that was my bass being discussed. Got it working, just looking for backup for the pickup with the issue.

Great vibe to that fury, I always find white pickguards to be pretty boring, that color combo with the new guard definitely pops.
Sorry I'm late posting these pics... earlier in the thread, I mentioned this bass but I didn't have new pics until now.
This is a US Fury I got from a pawn shop in Alabama via eBay for $110. What a steal! I was expecting a serviceable P clone but it's so much more than that... the tone is darker and fuller than what I'm used to and the neck is much more thin. It's quite actually my favorite current bass and I feel like I just got away with robbery, getting it for so little money. I look forward to checking out other old-school US Peaveys on the used market. I've actually been playing bass more since I got this.
In the background is the practice amp that lives in my apartment, a brand new Acoustic B20. Awesome tone for a small size practice combo.
Can you tell what year it is by the style of the Peavey logo and/or the type of headstock?

I believe the headstock says '90's era. Less pointy than the earlier Fury and no pin stripping outline. The '96 I am refinishing looks like yours.

rounded headstock, the star wars font, the straight string tree - i would guess 91-96 range. looks dead on just like my '93 foundation.

Year is kind of trivial as they way they manufactured these, it would only tell the neck year.
Generation is more important.
Black/Maple was the most popular.

I think your Fury is a late '93 early '94(At least the neck is). The 91 - early 93 had a smaller headstock with a less bulbous end. By 94 they had a sharper cut on the end of the headstock and had an allen-head /uncovered truss rod nut.
