Mmm, to show how a little creative EQing can make a good bass better, just tweaked around and my patriot can sound a lot like a musicman.
With all of its thick punchy mid goodness it doesnt seem to take much to tweak my amp to get a wealth of tones...out of just one pickup.

Don't think I've ever loved a bass with a non-maple board as much as this one.
The only reason it isnt #1 is because of the HUM.

Have you seen anymore this color? This was the first I've seen, I just had to have it !

Foundation story.

Been taking lessons for a few months. Instructor was a touring pro for about 25 years. First lesson he asked, "So what bass are you playing?"

I pulled my Foundation out and he said, "Yeah, Peavey makes some okay basses." Sort of noncommittal.

Today as I plugged in he said, "I'm really learning to like that bass. It has a voice."

I said, "It's one of my favorites."

He said, "At first I didn't like it because is said Peavey on the headstock."

I just laughed and said, "It's always good to keep an open mind."

Kind of nice to see someone get turned around on Peavey because of the way the Foundation sounds. Sure ain't my playing.

I have a lesson story too. I have been taking lessons for a couple months now and for the first month or so I was using a foreign Peavey Fury IV. Well the first time he saw me pull out the old Foundation he said "Those have good pick ups".and played around with it for a couple seconds and that was about it. The next week when I got there he asked to see it again and played around a little more and this time he said "I'm jealous of those pickups". I was so proud of my Peavey.

Just picked up a Foundation fretless for 50 bills. It needs some sheilding, pots, cavity cover, de-uglying and maybe a nut. I can live with ugly, but I hate text from stickers on my basses and you can clearly read Pennywise and Misfits in the finish. I don't use open strings very often so the nut can be fixed at my leisure. It is playable and toneful now though so I am pretty stoked. Just needed to tell someone.

Here it is next to my Patriot which I love. As you can see, ugly isn't the worst thing in the world to me. My son really wants to see if a Peavey can hold up as a dance floor. I think it might be able to.
