Just got the Dyna bass home. Truss rod maybe need to be tweaked has bit of forward bow.I had the wrench but let it go with another Dyna bass let go. Replaced the battery,and cleaned up some but has been well taken care of. Don't know what year it is,last two digits of serial number is 68 and first two is 02.

Also...Peavey peeps, are there early T20 slant Super Ferrites with an exposed blade like this in the wild or is this a non-stock pickup in this bass?!

Can't beat a great Dyna Bass. Funnily enough I ordered a white 5 string Dyna Bass from the USA back about 1990 and when it arrived here in Australia after what seemed like an eternity, it turned out to be a 1991 red one lolll. Hope you have fun with your beautiful white Dyna Bass.

I always think of your 91 Dyna, as it has to be from the very first run of the 2nd Gen Dyna 5. Mine also serials out as a 91, but is probably from the very last run of the 1st Gen Dyna 5. Maybe it's a 1st Gen/1st revision, as it has the flatter radius that was the norm for the 2nd Gen Dyna 5, but not the early SF Dyna 5.

Serial numbers correlate to shipping dates of US models only. 1978 to 1995. Imports designated by EX, EXP, or BXP are not serialized by year.

Somewhere between the initial release in 1987 and it's discontinuation in early 1991 they changed the fretboard radius. Would love to know exactly when this happened, but there are not a lot of 1st Gen Dyna 5s accessible to measure! I would wager it was perhaps 89/90, after some feedback from players. Commercially produced 5 strings were still in their infancy and features were being revised all the time.
I'm sure the string spacing is wider on the Gen 2 vs the 16.5mm spacing on the Gen 1. That same, ultra-narrow spacing is also on the first offerings from Ibanez and Yamaha in the 80s. Another good revision, IMO. I can barely play 16.5mm, even 17.5mm on my MusicMan 5 is a little narrow, but I get used to it. 18.5-ish mm on my Fenders is perfect.

Thanks,ordered a truss rod wrench 15/16 has a slight forward bow. Would like to find the tuner heads that looks a screw in top maybe replace them all the gold is rubbed off them.

Thanks for the info. I looked at her browneyedgirlsresale on FB and nothing. I guess she sold it all. I wish we knew where it could be found. She had a whole lot of stuff. Oh well, easier on my pocketbook!

Not meaning to hijack the conversation but I just found this vid Delta Saxophone Quartet/Etnafest 2007 with Hugh Hopper (youtube.com) on youtube. It's a first hand experience of a Peavey Foundation played by Hugh Hopper. Sounds very nice to my ear!!

Hugh was/is a big influence for me. Anything with him and Elton Dean is worth a listen. Anyway, knowing he played a Foundation since the mid-90s was an inspiration to try out one myself.

Are there any thoughts or opinions on Peavey Millennium 5 BXP necks?

I still have a lot of materials from guitar building. Was thinking of building a 5 string. These necks are available from Peavey. Thought I would ask before purchasing

I own one... made what some would say is an insanely silly trade for it.

Long story short, Amber sold me a pristine loaded body... decided I did not want to modify to set it up for a USA era neck (same neck pocket)

It feels very close to my beloved USA Millenium 5s... easy setup... rigid... setup wheel....

Yall would think my trade was irrational --- it feels like my sundaymorning bass (USA Millenium 5).... someone smarter can comment if the imports also had carbon fiber rods
