$250 for an American-made bass that equals (Fury) or just plain rolls and smokes (Foundation) its counterpart from Corona, California that costs at least three times that amount?

What, exactly, is the problem with the price?

I've owned seven Foundies, none of which cost more than $200 and bought a Fury last year for $175. The first four Foundies I bought when I was young and stupid, thinking, "Great bass... I'll play it and save my $$$ until I can afford a Fender". That happened four times. Each time, when I bought the Fender, I was somewhat disappointed in the difference, but couldn't put my finger on why. Now that I can put my finger on why, I guess what I'm saying is that, given the price of a MIA Fender, I'd have been glad to pay $250 twice for any of the Peaveys I've owned regardless of what they're going for now. The older, wiser me isn't into them for resale value.

Okay, semester is over. Grades are in. Time to get back to this one.

Got to this point last fall, started to spray and my compressor decided to crap out. A friend is loaning me his compressor and I'll be able to get this one back into playable condition.

Been all over the map trying to decide what color scheme to go with, but think I'll try a blackburst on this one.

Won't clutter this thread with the details, but will post the finished product when I get to that point.

You never know what you may find. Last year I picked up a Peavey Fury in perfect condition with the OHSC, a Peavey CHS 300 Mark III bass head and an old Fender 2x15" all for $200 from a 70 year old man. He bought the Peavey gear new back in the day and he really took care of it. I've sold it all and gave the Fender 2x15" to a friend but you can definately still find deals around. I found that ad in a local paper. -Luke

And part of this is because Peavey originally sold them for so much less than Fender that they got an undeserved rep for being "cheap starter basses" and ended up in the hands of kids who treated them like an instrument that was worth (as an instrument) only 1/x of what a Fender sold for at the time.

just picked this up from a fellow TBr. i recently set one up for a friend who found one on CL and immediately fell in love. im a p-bass guy and from what ive been reading on this club, i guess my next one to try is an early fury? sorry for the crappy photos, i did this with my ipad, as my digi camera is kind of dead at the moment. oh and can i get a number please?

I've never taken a picture of the Foundy, that looks better than yours. :)

Yep. Something about it is just "right", I get the same feeling when I play it for the first time, every time.

Took it on tour, so it's seen the road as well. Never an issue with it and it's always played and sounded great.
