It's sad how many basses with in line 4 headstocks still come with 2 string trees.
I align with realistic expectations.
I do often wonder why I record with a Millenium5 and they want this dumpster looking turd.
So do I.

Got a nice message last night.
Fella in Brazil had contacted me over the summer asking for help. He'd picked up a 2nd gen TL-5 with black hardware but as all the models he'd saw online sported gold had a nagging doubt his wasn't stock. I did try reassuring him but as we all know a "nagging doubt" is hard to quell and it takes more than the say so from a stranger on the internet.
Importing parts in Brazil carries fierce duties so I had to take care putting together the parts list.
Here's the result. Man was right, gold hardware is pretty sweet

I snagged this blank slate Fury recently, and at a good price too since the neck condition was a gamble without being able to put tension on it before buying.
The initial plan for the pickup, even before picking it up, was to put a 916 super ferrite P pickup in it because what better suited platform is there for one? But looking at what other pickups can be had for around the same price point, I'm now really leaning towards a DiMarzio Relentless Middle. From the few short recordings on the 916 site, their super ferrite P seems to sound good and I like the 80's super ferrite pickups I've had before, but I know the DiMarzio sounds good. There's a slim chance I may be able to get an original 80's Peavey super ferrite pickup in a couple of days for dirt cheap. If so, I'm toying with the idea of routing the body for that mounted in a slight reverse-P style slant.
I know the sound one aims for is purely dependent on one's own taste, so maybe I'm just processing out loud here, but that's where I am as far as a pickup goes for this thing. The EMG GZR is also on the radar.
Aside from that, unless I find a template and cut one, it seems the only option for a black pickguard would be going through Pickguardheaven.
Anyways, here's the start of what might be my new #1 once it's complete.
My previous Peaveys had the triangle trees. I'll be shifting this bar string tree over a bit because I'm not a fan of the A string resting on the screw. The current bridge is just a mashup of parts from the parts bin until the mail man gets here later with the new one.

I'd say a Patriot is the better suited platform, they shipped with a Super Ferrite single coil.
Fury basses were different. 2nd and 3rd gen models shipped with an off the shelf ceramic split coil, 1st gen got the surplus Super Ferrite single coils from the discontinued T-20. Those were constructed a bit differently from the Dyna/Foundation/Patriot version and the ones offered by Mark.
Adding a 916 won't bring your Fury any closer to original than adding the DiMarzio will

I was meaning it's suited specifically towards the split coil P super ferrite 916 makes. The split p form factor. As opposed to putting one in say a Fender P bass or any other brand. Im not at all trying to get it to original Fury specs or sound, just trying to make it a cool P bass
. I feel like Peaveys and super ferrite pickups belong together but again, at the end of the day, I just want to build a cool P bass and the feel of the Peavey neck/body are the biggest parts that make the bass what it is.
The answer is: None. None, better suited. Super Ferrite Ps are killer. I believe I have the first two sets made. They are in an unknown brand P body in P(standard)/reverse P(bridge) positions. Highly recommended.

Edit to add: I realized that if I went with anything else, I'd regret not having at least tried the super ferrite p in this bass

My only mistake was not ordering exposed blades. After seeing a set with them, I had instant regret.
I just ordered the last set with exposed blades from the ebay store. I felt like I'd regret not having the exposed blades to set them apart visually
