I'll have to check mine when the new pickup rings come in. I think I'll stick with the stock pups after all considering how much praise the stock ones get and I have other things I could do with $400 dollars. I had some initial volume issues with the bridge pup but after fiddling with the height I found a sweet spot. Also anybody have any insight into carving a tummy cut and forearm cut into the T-40? Is it worth it cost wise and how difficult would it be?

Nah, I think the previous owner got drunk and decided to take a leak in it or something. My friend tried the bass out today and said he smelled pot in the case. :eyebrow: Maybe it's just a bad smell of everything.

Anyways, I'm going to refinish the bass. Any suggestions? What would look good with a maple neck? I was thinking:

1. Metallic Orange/Copper
2. Dark Metallic Green
3. Shoreline Gold
4. Pearl White

I started a refin thread a while back, and got the usual 4 factory colours suggested. In the end, I think I might leave mine in it's pseudo reliced (ie genuinely worn) condition. Mainly through laziness.

However, a Fender colour would be a sacriledge.

Paint it solid black..then again that just my preference... :D My brownsville bat is black on black with a rosewood fretboard and my newly acquired Peavey Dyna is all black with a rosewood fretboard...well the fret markers on that one are pearl but thats ok...they are both as black as black can be otherwise. My Foundation(s) stand out like a sore thumb with them now. Red body and maple neck and fretboard. x2..but I can take care of that :p

After some thinking, I decided I'm gonna go for the Metallic Orange because after some thought, I never really saw metallic orange basses around much. Plus, it'll have a hot rod look.:bassist: Just bought a can today, so it'll be finished by the end of this week.

Also, I just stripped the bass today, and I noticed it has another coating under the original white. It's like a clear primer of some sort and it didn't react to the paint stripper much. Should I leave this and just paint over it or does anyone have any experience in this?

Just brought home a USA made Foundation, I believe it's an '80's, SN is 05913309. Has the chrome knobs and hardware, maple board, pointy headstock. White body that is in poor shape-many chips and dings, but I might just strip and hand oil finish it. Needs neck adjustment-probably tilt, and some repair to a lousy wiring job done by a previous owner. Neck looks great, bass feels like it's alive when the strings vibrate-I will enjoy playing this one.
Have owned a Peavey guitar before, and an old Peavey amp now but this is my first Peavey bass.

Bought it out of a pawn shop-saw it in the window last week.
Wanted $200, got it for $160 (complained about the damage).
I'm really thrilled to have a US made bass for this money, and from what I hear the Foundation has a great reputation and loyal players.

Mine looks a bit different, higher SN and says "Handcrafted in the USA" on the back of the headstock, just under the SN. Access cover for the electronics is a small, reverse "D" shape.
I will start some work on this baby tomorrow-the body looks like someone was hammering nails with it, but what a great neck!
Got a set of Fender flats today, maybe put them on this bass when it's ready.
I'd like to be a member of the Peavey USA Club, if you take old retired guys.

My Fury/T-20 Hybrid arrived. As I mentioned in a previous post here, I also scored the original rosewood neck from the original owner as well.


Although I liked the Hybrid idea, the T-20 neck didn't fit exactly right in the neck pocket on the fury body. The previous owner said the original rosewood neck was warped but it looked fine to me. I spent about an hour cleaning and polishing and put the original Fury neck on the Fury body. The Fury neck had a bunch of dings in the back of it so I sanded the neck down bare. It took a bit of time and back and forth adjusting using the neck tilt adjuster, trussrod and bridge saddles but now it's playing great. I really love the Super Ferrite tone and the thinner (front to back) neck is awesome. I need to take some better pics that will show off the NICE rosewood fretboard!! Once again, I'm very impressed with another old Peavey :bassist:

I know the feeling. My Fury feels and plays great. The action was wicked high when I got it, but it is much more reasonable now. I saw the posting for the one you bought and was curious about his assertion that the early Furry necks were prone to warping due to being thin. I do not think the necks are very thin, and the bi-laminate design is resistant to warping, I thought.

Twice now, I've seen Peavey's with the neck pocket adjustment way off. For some reason people cannot seem to make it work. I like the adjustability but would prefer a solid pocket for maximum sustain. The rosewood neck was perfect, I just backed off the trussrod a little and everything came right together. I had to angle all the saddles slightly, I should move the bridge just a hair!!

Thanks Ed!!! I couldn't be happier. The best $250 I've spent since my T-40 :hyper:
