i am always on the lookout for Peavey's since I bought a T-40 just over 2 weeks ago.
There are six T-40's on ebay presently. I decided to wait for the deal over a year ago and got mine on Craigslist for $100
I took some better pics of my new main squeeze 
I was REALLY happy with my T-20 but this Fury just has a better feel. It's slightly lighter, more resonant and the neck is somewhat thinner, front to back. The rosewood board provides a slightly warmer tone. I also removed the finish from the neck giving it a really nice feel. This baby does the P bass thing RIGHT!!!

Inca GOLD!! I'm trying to think of a pickguard color that would go with the gold color. Maybe I'll stick with the original black one 
Pretty Peavey you got there FL Knifemaker. And here is a shock of shocks maybe. Ever since I got this Peavey Dyna, I haven't really had that burning desire for a T40 
Oh don't get me wrong, if I ever happen across one at the right price, right shape and at the right time, you better believe I will make it mine, but I'm actually not looking as strongly for one now and don't think about them much. Not after I got this Dyna..man even with the set up issues regarding the G string right now this bass is just beyond words to me in its absolute goodness. Its neck..its the bass neck of my dreams... I can't stop going on about it.
All I can say to the players that go brand first or price tag first (headstock whores they are called?) and refuse to look at anything even remotely considered 'lower end'? Some of you boys have no idea some of the great axes out there you are passing up.

Here is the latest addition to my modest USA Peavey collection, 1983 Foundation:
In decent shape for an almost 25 year old instrument, typical dings and finish wear. It just came today. It was a little heavier than I expected it to be, but it balances perfectly on a strap. The neck tilt was maxed out and there was almost no tension on the neck, so it resembled a banana and was unplayable above the 12th fret. The strings also were not radiused to the fretboard properly. I backed of the tilt, the truss road moved effortlessly so I have proper relief now and I raised the A and D strings. Soundwise, it's awesome. It is a little deeper than my Fury, sounds like a supercharged Jazz Bass. I did a quick polish job, the electronics will need to be cleaned up. all in all, pretty much what I was expecting it to be.

Very nice. Until my Fury arrived, I had never seen an Inca Gold Peavey, now there are two in the same day!!
Thanks. Just put new D'addario XL's on it. Wow. BIIIIIIGGGG sound.Wish I had got one of these much earlier. I was too much of a snob. The Super Ferrite pickups are awesome. I like my Fury and it is fun to play, but I can't play it after having played the Foundation. If I ever take them both to the same gig, I'd have to play one one set, and the other another. It's so obvious that Peavey was going after the P and the J with these designs, but I think they one upped Fender for the time. 83 and 84 Fenders may go for a lot more money than Peaveys (Fury $125, Foundation $200) but that is only because of collector vibe. For players, I'd take the Peaveys over the Fenders I've seen from the same period.

I take it that this was the one on ebay with the T20 neck? If so then I had planned to bid on it until 2 days before the end of the auction T40 showed up on Craigslist for $100.00 !!!!
Sold my last T20 and really regret it. Love that Inca gold color....
That's the one, I scored the original neck also. He had it in a separate auction. If someone is looking for a maple T-20 neck, let me know. It has some dents and dings but it's perfectly straight and plays just fine. It looks like I need to keep an eye out for a Foundation now
Please post pics!! Don't they come with a P/J configuration?? I don't remember the last time I saw one on the bay.
There was one a guy kept relisting for $175 BIN. He had something about non-paying bidders. I thought it was odd that it kept showing up, always on the last page of auctions, so I didn't bother with it.
I'm thinking about a DynaBass, myself. I'm going to stick with Super Ferrites, unless I stumble on a stupid deal for a T40 or T45.

Beautiful Foundation and Fury, guys. I love that Inca Gold with the blackpickguard (the Foundation ain't bad either, sans pickguard).
I also agree, the thinner Fury/Foundation necks are highly adjustable. My 84 natural foundation neck was a wreck, but a micro-tilt and truss-rod adjustment does wonders.
