There is a Milly on eBay right now that appears to be a US model. But it doesn't appear to have the mid control sweep. I was under the impression that all US models had that control. This is a Millennium Standard, which, if memory serves me correctly, came toward the end of Mill production. All passive, and meant to be more of an entry-level US made bass.

Absolutely US-made. I have one. Well made, as all Millenniums are, plays great, good (not great) sounding. That ebay seller is optimistic if he thinks he'll get $400 for it. Not that it's not a great value for that price, but budget another $100 and you can get the full blown Millennium with active eletronics and the MM/J pickups.

I agree with NicJim. I believe that is a U.S. model. And since it's passive, it does not have the Millennium preamp and, therefore, no mid-sweep.

Those are super rare. This is the first one I personally have seen for sale. I would love to score one for myself some someday, but it definitely ain't in the cards for me right now.

I should plug them both in tonight for a fresh comparison. But as my memory serves, the Millennium pickups sound a bit more...how can I put it... subdued? My '94 Fury sounds just like a Pbass to me (a good thing). But I do recall that the Millennium pickups didn't really ring out. Although that could be because I compared it to a J/J Millennium side to side, and the passive P/J Mill DEFINITELY came up lacking in that pairing.

Yeah, I wouldn't be so interested in a comparison of the P/J to an active Mill. But, I would really like to know how the P/J compares to a Fury P and to a good Fender P.

Comparing the Mill P/J to a Fury (or other P), however they stack up, I'd also want to know what kind of strings were on each, too. Sounding lackluster could always be an issue of strings. I know you know that....

Anyway, I'm definitely curious to hear about it when you get a chance to A/B them.

Personally, tonight I am hoping to A/B my StingRay 5 w/ceramic pickups to my new-to-me Sterling 5 (which, in theory, has the same pickup and pre). On paper, they should sound basically the same. But, my memory from weeks ago of the SR5 tone just doesn't compare to the much fresher memory of the Sterling 5 tone. This test will probably just illustrate how bad my "tone memory" is...

Just paid for a 2nd gen Fury (black, maple) that should be here in a day or two. I'm not sure if I'll like the neck, as I tend to dislike smaller necks, but someone said the Fury neck is a little thicker front to back than my old Mill 4 neck. Been playing 5's for so long, 4-string necks feel like toys sometimes!

My '93 Fury has a really small neck - smaller than my Fender Jazz necks, and closer to the neck on my Sterling or T-bird, FWIW...

I have two Furys one is a 1990 and one is 1994. While both are only 1.5" or so at the nut. The 1990 is quite a bit thicker, front to back. So your guess is as good as mine to which one you will get.

I find the width at the nut is less important to me as thickness front to back is. I had an Ibanez SRX a while ago that I loved. I think the width was close to 1.5", but it was thicker front to back than other 4's I had played. I miss that thing.

Oh, does anyone know what Hipshot detuner fits the Fury?

Got the Fury this morning, and just spent the last hour and a half setting her up and hitting the intonation. So far, I like it a lot. Has that P bass tone in spades, which was my main concern, and the neck, while thin, is not uncomfortably so. Gonna gig it tonight and see how it feels live. Checked the serial this morning, and it's a '92, so I guess technically, I now own my first vintage bass!

I just became a US Peavey bass owner again. 1991 Dyna Bass Unity. The feel and sound of this bass is amazing. I am hooked! I have to learn my way around the tone controls and preamp but I will be fine. Anyone know the correct name for the color?

Great looking bass. I'm sure you'll really enjoy it. I've eyeballed one like it that has been listed on ebay but couldn't justify it. I have no idea what the finish is called but have a Peavey Generation with a very similar finish.
