Just an FYI. I was in Real Guitars today, in San Francisco, dropping off a couple of basses for Gary Brawer to work on. In the corner, I saw a Peavey BAM210 with the factory footswitch! I asked the shop owner about it. He said he's had it for a while and he's selling it for Stu Hamm! He couldn't remember the exact price, but he said it $400-500.

Real was cool! I wish I had more time to hang out and look around. But, my g/f was waiting in the car and I was in there almost 40 minutes, as it was, just waiting for them to get to me. There were about 3 guys in line in front of me.

Besides the BAM, they had an old Ampeg Portaflex of some kind. It was buried behind other stuff, so I'm not sure what it was. I'm guess it was a B-12(?). I will definitely get a better look at that when I go back.

I believe that on the regular Unity basses, the Koa came with gold hardware, but so did the Dyna Unity LTD.

I know the easy answer is, "It looks like Koa!", but I don't know my woods that well... :hmm:

I like my 91 Dyna Unity more each day......mainly because I am learning more about how to control the tone. Since it has the gold hardware I am assuming it is the Ltd model. Anyone remember what the retail price was on these? Thanks!

Very interesting. Most koa Unity basses are made entirely of koa, and though the grain doesn't match perfectly, the hue of the wood is the same throughout the bass. The bass you're picking up seems like it may have a maple neck. I'd be super interested in seeing photos of the headstock when you pick it up. The only other Unity I've seen like that was in a TX Guitar Center, and I only saw crappy online photos.

From what I can tell, the serial number (last two digits removed in pic) dates it to 1991. The body of the bass has a satin feel and the ends of the grain are almost "unfinished" and open-feeling.

I may be able to get some better-quality outdoor pics in a couple of days.

BTW, does anybody know where I can get a replacement battery box? Peavey doesn't seem to have them any more... :(

The koa models had an oil finish. I would use lemon oil on mine periodically to keep it from drying out.

Nice bass!!

No clue on the battery box though. Sorry.
