I know exactly what you mean. Less than 3 months ago, I got my first "vintage" Peavey, an early "natural" 1978 T-40. Since, I have gotten a "natural" T-20. Now I have "rescued" a Peavey Patriot ("natural" mahogany). This is becoming a disease! I understand that it's probably incurable, but not fatal. Possibly infectious, though! Call it "Peavey Disease" or PAS!!!!

I wanted to get input from everyone regarding my Sarzo sig. This will probably be the only 4 banger I'll have in my collection and I have no intentions of selling it. However, at 22 years old it's sounding a little tired. I'm considering getting the pickups rewound (may swap the ceramic magnets for alnico) and replacing the pre. Havent decided on which yet but leaning toward an Aguilar OBP-3. I also would like to replace the Schaller bridge. Does anyone know of a direct replacement?

The OBP-3 is a great preamp, very flexible, and really let the pickups tone shine through, it is a very 'natural' sounding preamp if that makes sense, it doesn't particularly 'color' the tone, other than the adjustments you make yourself with the knobs.
Re: the bridge, the only thing I can think of with 3 mounting holes like that would be an early Badass, or maybe Hipshot

Hey Mark ! I know the new Rudy Sarzo Cirrus has a three band Glockenklang preamp in it. I bet that would be SICK in your Sarzo !

I believe the pickups are epoxy potted. Preamp may be your only choice. Personally, I wouldn't do anything to it. Next year it may sound new and fresh to you.

I'll confess to loving modding, but I think that Sarzo is worth preserving as is, IMO.
If the pups seem weak, try raising them some. That may give you what you're looking for. But unless something just doesn't work I'd leave it alone.
If your dream 4 stringer is a modded Sarzo, I think you should just start shopping for one in much worse condition where modding it can only be a plus.
If you just "have" to mod that one, I'd start with a new glock....odds are the pups are fine, and your pre is what's loosing "umph" anyway.
PS: I'm pretty sure glock will work with you to build exactly what you want, so you aren't just limited to what is on best bass gear, etc...
