U.S. Peavey Club

Hello Basstovshy, I am putting some feelers out there. I just let my 800RB go for some trade boot,on another bass guitar,I wanted. I would be willing to trade for another amp to run my 410SBX,8ohm cabinet. If you were referring to the Dyna Basses,Super Ferrites. I was the original owner of this bass,in 87. I got it back,about a year ago,couldn't believe it when I was browsing around here,in a little Mom,and Pop store. If you had a good amp head,would try to work something out.

Circumstances have helped me decide to thin out my US Peavey's. I'm keeping 3 or 4 US-Peavey's: '83 Fury, '94 Forum P/J, '86 Foundation & '03 Axcelerator Plus. My son gets the Koa Unity and the Axcelerator-5. My Millennium J/MM is already being trialed by a friend who wants it badly.

I'd love to get these in the hands of folks who love the US-made Peaveys, hence this post.

For sale are:
- 1990 Fury (split-P 1-1/2" nut)
- 1994 Foundation
- 1985 Patriot (Mahogany)
- 1981 T-40 (Sunburst/Rosewood) w/ lined bullet case
- 1991 RJ-IV (Silverburst) w/ Peavey HSC
- maybe the '83 Fury (slanted SF) if someone here is wanting one.

This is painful as they are all great instruments, but the folks who end up with them will be very happy, and things here will turn around.

I will also be putting up my Peavey rig: Pro500 amp w/ BX115-BW & TVX210. Obviously, I'd rather sell that locally, but if you're near Raleigh I can meet 'n greet.

Thanks for the kind words, Mike. I'm fortunate to have good kids that love music, so I have the easy part.

..and yeah, after I picked up my 2nd US Peavey, I noticed how great they were to work on, play and enjoy...and subsequently, collect!

Yet, I haven't seen many that rival your walnut Cirrus. That thing is sick.

Thanks Steve ! Yeah, I love it. It plays better than any Cirrus I've owned. I put an Allparts A Bridge on it and it sits a mm or two lower than the stock ABM which gives it even lower action. I sold an SWR yesterday on Craigslist and the guy played that bass and said it was unbelievable. I agree with you, though. The USA Peaveys are hard to beat, easy to work on, play great, and are just cool.

I was in a pawn shop the other day looking around, and they had one bass - an Indonesian Millennium BXP 4 string. It looked so lonely and sad that I had to take it home.

I like it a lot more than I expected to. Especially the slim neck. My P basses have been hurting my left hand lately, but I can play this silly $125 pawn shop thing for hours with no fatigue or pain, and after I fiddled with the nobs I got it to sound surprisingly sweet.

Do the USA Millenniums have a similar neck profile? If so, I think it's time to do some more shopping.

I have never done a side-by-side comparison but I can say, of the 50+ basses I've owned in 30 years' playing, the USA Millenniums have some of the best necks out there. If you ever have the chance to get one, grab it!

I agree with Mark and Ack (is it Steve or Nick ??). The Milli necks are crazy comfy but the deal breaker for me is the 21 frets. If Peavey had catered to the Cirrus / Alembic fans and made it 24 frets instead of catering to the Fender crossover fans and making it 21 frets, then I'd own one for sure !! That's why I kept selling mine. The feel and tone is amazing though !! The MM/J tone on the Milli Plus (Maple top) is practically unbeatable from ANY bass. Plus the fact that it has VFL pups and the Milli pre of course, makes it DEAD SILENT like the Cirrus.

If you don't mind 21 frets, then it's a no brainer...

It's funny... I was just changing strings today, and had my Mill plugged into my PC. It was sitting on my lap for a few, and I couldn't remember if I had turned the volume down or not, until I touched the strings. It was silent the whole time!

I have a question about my Fury split P.
The guy I bought it from did a lot of studio work with it and he raised the PUPs way up and lowered the action way down. I knew it needed some setup work but I decided to play it live last w/e. The stings bottomed out on the poles a couple of times....I couldn't help myself digging in....large pop ensued....not nice.

So I am setting the bass up tonight. I am considering going with a Fender factory P pickup height but wondering what you guys with Fury's are using. I may not want to go down that far. As far as relief and action, I will go factory as that is where I am most comfortable. Mainly looking for advice on PUP height.

Hi Stu !!

Man, when I look at that list of discontinued USA Peavey basses it leaves me smiling and speechless that Peavey had SO many top of the line basses that really do out perform most every other bass on the planet. The Cirrus and BQuad come to mind first as the "heavy hitters." I'll take one over an Alembic any day.
