If I missed anyone please let me know.

......Next question.....will I be able to use the Dyna preamp with Barts or Dimarzios? I really like the active boost. Thanks!

Chances are it'll work well. It works well with a wide range of pickups in Peavey basses...Super Ferrites, VFL, Sarzo, Shaller J/P and maybe a few others I'm missing. I've also used it with T-40, Dimarzio and the P pickup in the 80s Fury. I'd try it first.

I'm gonna really get a feel for what my new-to-me T40 can do. But, I'm curious what it'd sound like with a Bart preamp.

My T-40 was the only bass I've owned that did not need or want an up grade.
The over sized neck and frets slowed me down. But boy did she sing.
The only reasons I sold her was I'm a fretless player and I needed finances for my birdsong.

I haven't gotten mine cleaned up and set up yet, or played it thru my rig.

The neck has my favorite nutwidth of 1.625" and doesn't feel too thick or have weird shoulders or shape. I did notice that it's 1/4" narrower at the 19th fret than all my other basses. That will be weird feeling and make it less forgiving.

Okay I have new switches coming for my P 40. How hard is this to install? I have a very good tech and I don't mind paying him to do it he restores a lot of vintage instrument. What kind of timeframe does this take you guys to do this. Also, he does the copper shielding in the guitars that he builds any real reason to have this done while the electronics are out on my T 40?

Can somebody point me in the right direction? I need to know exactly how my T40's electronics should perform? Actually.... what the phase switch should do? I understand volumes, tones, and pup selectors. But the phase switch???? What does that do to the output of the individual coils? Also, are the pups 4 individual coils with each pup wired parallel, series????

Count on an hour. Strings removed from tuners, pickup ring screws removed (tape pickups to pickguard with masking tape), pickguard removed...replace switches, button it partially back up to check function and do whatever is necessary after that.

Here's a schematic.

The pickups are are humbuckers with 2 coils each and they are internally wired in series with a center tap that can be grounded so they can be used as single coils.

Do a youtube search for "Peavey T-40" and you'll find several good instructional videos. The manual is also available at Peavey's website.

What do you guys use for strings in your T-40's kinda want to get a vintage sound. I use coated strings on my foundation. DR Neon whites. But wanna go a different route. I've gotta restring my 20, 40, and 45.

I am in love with the Fender 9050 SS flats. They have feel, tone, durability and great price! So far, I've got them on ALL my "T-series" Peaveys....T20, T20FL, T45 and T40. I can't imagine ever wanting anything else.

As always, YMMV, IMHO, et al, etc. ad nauseum!

The experts can chime in here. But I consider myself very picky about necks. In '89 the only music store in Knoxville worth anything, was a Peavey dealer. I bought my old Foundation (first quality instrument) there. Anyways, none of the Peavey necks (from my memory) have been overly thick front to back, which is what I consider "chunky". Wide necks can still be thin... like a 6 string Cirrus for instance. But, I've also never picked up a peavey (old or new) that felt toothpick-ish like a Soundgear or Geddy jazz. They seem to fall in line with modern stingrays, 1.625" Ps, and jazzes IMO.

thanks, that what i was afraid of... im worried the neck would be too chunky for my tastes :/

how is the neck depth, if you don't mind my asking?

It has a good feel to it. Compared to my L2000, this neck feels a lot less chunky.

How's this...I see that you're in Raleigh. I'm 20 miles south in F-V. I can meet you somewhere today and hand you the Fury for you to put through its paces. See if you like the neck or not...

No rush getting it back to me - I've got others.
