Funny. I never even knew Westone ever made basses. Then, just last month I met a guy playing one that, if I recall correctly, was identical to that red bass in the picture. carpcutter, your profile says you are in DC. Did you go to an open jazz jam at the Jazz Workshop in NoVA last month? Or maybe it was two months ago?

Not me. I've been on break and haven't gigged since December. Plus I just got the Westone a little over a month ago. My usual gigging bass is a Warwick Corvette; everything else is normally just used for recording. But the group I've been playing with does do some jazz and usually wind up filling in empty calendar slots at Twins.

Too funny! Well, then, I guess your bass has a twin living nearby. I doubt you bought yours from the guy I met. He told me his mom bought his for him in something like 1978(?). Anyway, a long time ago, before they stopped production (again, if I'm recalling correctly). So, I doubt he turned around and sold it right after I met him.

Yeah I doubt he was the same guy. I picked up mine from an older metal bassist (and big time Westone fan) who had just bought it, but then someone sold him an identical one in flawless condition a few days later (so I guess they're triplets). So I got the beat up one for cheap. Huge tone.

Got my 1st Peavey USA on Tuesday. Was lucky Postman had just left it propped
against my door, not the brightest place Mr Postman.

Anyway 1st Peavey USA and 1st American bass.My thoughts well it's not hype this
is a fine bass.A song I do is Genie in a Bottle ( Speedway Cover of Christine Aguilera)
and straight of this had the tone.I never was a pick but I did on this, don't know felt
right.

Very happy to be a member of the USA club, I've an International Milestone III also
that I love and this will fit just nicely. So any Numbers you can put me down for ?

So with a lot of hunting on ebay, and some advice from resident TB peavey expert Buck Spunni, I just snagged my first US Peavey for a great price! Here is my Cirrus 5 - I believe of the most common wenge/walnut variety. Other than some hardware tarnish and a few small dings, it seems to be in great shape- it even came with the OHSC- Can I get a number?

Also, based on the body shape and headstock can someone approximate a DOB for this bass? I'll be sure to reach out to Peavey after the weekend.

Looks like a bubinga/walnut to me. That would be the most common in my opinion...

The wenge is darker. You just don't see as many of those either. Most common were the bubinga , maple and redwood. The tiger-eye, which was a maple variant, is seen a lot also. There was wenge 5 for sale in the classifieds recently.......

I don't know if any of you guys are interested, but I just listed a rare T-20 FL (fretless) FS/ST ....

Needs a TINY bit of work, but these (as you guys probably know) are super rare, especially in this finish. I'd keep her and fix her up, but I really don't need a fretless...even one this cool. Anyway, see my SIG for the link. :)

This one was a real find
This Unity was hiding in a closet it's entire life
No scratches or fret wear at all. The pick ups do have a little tarnish. The person who purchased this bass new never learned to play it and put it away. Picked it up for $350.
