I think some of the VFLs are passive like in the later foundations, but they are definitely active in the Forums. Does anyone know if the Sarzo pickups are the same dimensions as these earless VFLs?

Hi,VFL pick ups are passive and the Forum 95 has an active 18v preamp, think they were only made in white with one pick up like a musicman.
I,ve got one and if you look left to the picture you can see some of it.
white one Forum 95,brown one Foundation 84
Great bass by the way.View attachment 632959
OK, here we go again.
Another Peavey, this time a Dyna. Bolt neck, VFL pups... The passive sound is friggin great!
How's this working out? Have you compared it to other VFL equipped peaveys?
Thanks for the info. I have a VFL foundation I am thrilled with and will eventually post pics of to this forum. Very interested in the 80's dyna bass series.
Now the plan is swap my VFL Foundation neck to the just bought SF body...

Peavey Foundation Red 1994
Peavey Foundation White 1995 - Excellent shape, great punch, and great action.
Peavey Fury Tobaccoburst 1987 - Very light and has a great growl.
Peavey Foundation Black 1995
Peavey Fury Texas Star 1995 - The original owner sanded off the logo so I painted the headstock. My beach gig bass.

I suppose I assumed that because my tone got "fuzzy" and super quiet when the batteries were dying paired with the incredibly high output of the pickups in my Forum it was an active pickup. I've not focused much on how active electronic actually work.
It will be one of my keepers. it is really light and looks so vintage.Love that tobacco burst fury!
