U.S. Peavey Club

I thought there might be a place for this photo. Is it too late to get a number?

Peavey Millennium Preamp - am I right in thinking that the midrange control is peaking while the bass and treble are shelving? The midrange seems to control a wider band of frequencies at any one position than the bass or treble.
The controls are all boost/cut with the mid range stack allowing you to alter the tone of your signal, and then boost or cut that signal.

Yup, I know that. EQ controls are either shelving or peaking. Shelving controls only affect a narrow frequency range and peaking control a wider spread. A bass control at 120hz will probably control 115hz - 125hz, but equally in that range. A peaking control, however, is like a tent or mountain peak (hence, peaking) so that it boost the most at the frequency you choose and then also the frequencies around that center one to a lesser degree the farther from the center you get.

The midrange control on the Millennium preamp sounds peaking to me. I could be wrong, though.

Beg pardon, but shelving tone controls affect all frequencies above or below their knee frequency, which is found at a set amount of cut or boost. These graphs show a Low control set at about 180Hz@3dB and a High set about 2.5KHz@3db.

Is it possible to tighten up the output jack? The jack on my '85 Foundation is loose and it will lose connection pretty easy. Also I have seen people mention rebuilding the pots is that difficult? I think my tone pot is dead it doesn't seem to make any tone difference wherever I put it. The two volume ones work fine a little scratchy but I haven't sprayed them with contact cleaner yet.
Thanks for the help.

Fellas I'm in need of some info. What's the difference between a Dyna bass Unity series and a plain old Unity bass:D

I'm guessing the Unity is a passive PJ thru neck and the Dyna/Unity is an active PJ thru neck.

DynaBass Unity has the preamp. The Unity is passive V/V/T. The PUs in both are passive as far as I recall and I'm not sure if different PUs were used.

If your jack has some issues and your tone pot doesn't work I'm thinking you may have a loose wire or two. Have you taken apart and checked all your solder joints. May not be the jack itself. Just some random thoughts.

I have looked but haven't done a thorough search. I will. I'm pretty sure my jack is loose though. It doesn't take much to get the plug to fall out. The tone pot very well have a bad solder. Thank you.
