Well I just had EMG's installed and WOW! They have aLOT of PWR of GREAT Metal String sound, not to mention that it also killled my 'noise' problem I had with previous electronics whenever i added tone, -then my amp hissed noisily!

If you like to sound of the Who-bass, then you will LOVE THEM! One thing you could do is visit your local store and see if they have any basses with EMG or Bartolini's on them to see if you like the sound and compare against ones that dont have them (I.e. cheaper basses) -the one i had upgraded was originally an Ibanez SR300. :bassist:

I just had EMG's put on my Ibanez SR300 and they sound GREAT! WOW! They are really POWERFUL! To hear it, check out local store, see if they have any basses with EMG or Bartolinis and play and compare with ones without through same amp! It should give you an idea! They also fixed my noise problem with the cheaper electronics that were originally installed on my SR300, where there was before a bad high-pitched hissing noise, that is all now gone! Very good electronics! I'm very pleased! I can sound just like John Entwistle! Only thing is the bass I got was cheap, and the neck not solid maple, so worried that later the action cant be adjusted to much, so, I guess then i'll have to upgrade the wood later. So the guy that said he only cares what it sounds and plays like, beware of the cheaper basses. Next time, I'll go with a more expensive SWR w/EMG's or Bartolini's already installed, and better woods! -Cheers

Hey Jim,I am not sure what any of this has to do with any kind of Peavey conversation whatsoever? Or any thing else for that matter,since none of these pickups are going on a Peavey.But I guess you are trying to convey something to us all??????:confused::confused::confused:

I can't compare the super ferrites to the soapbar style but I can tell you that they are still very hot pick ups. I can only turn my master volume to 3 with foundation. With other basses in I can go to about 7 on the master to get the same volume. I haven't tried the T at volume yet (our jam space is below a business that was open when I had a play so I had be quiet, doh!) but those blades seem even hotter than my Foundation through my headphone amp.

Sounds like you'd have a pretty sweet quiver when your all done. That Millennium is nice. I wish I could get used to 5ers but I just get confused every time I play one. Guess I'll just have to keep stringing my 4 bangers BEAD. I do like me some low B:)

I would think I could play just about anything with those basses. I could probably do it all with just the Millennium and the T-40, but I like the idea of a Jazz type bass (and Foundation 4's are shockingly cheap for a USA made bass!)

I know some people have a hard time switching between 4's and 5's but I've never had a problem. For whatever reason I don't end up thinking the B is the E or anything like that. I think it's because I look at a fiver as a 4-string plus 1, so that the B-string is a thumbrest that also plays notes.

I used to use a five for a back up and when I actually had to use it I kept thinking I should be playing on E(the fourth string) when that string is in fact a B on my four string. I don't know why it was so confusing but I'd rather that not happen again.

You could probably play just about anything on any one of those basses. Just think of all the tones you could get with all three of em'. Just off the top of my head I'm thinking you could get: P bass type sound, Ric, Jazz, MM, Mudbucker style and various combinations there of. Nice mix of electronics in that group of basses as well.

I like the way you think of the B on a fiver. I'll have to try that approach sometime.

With the mid frequency selector on the Millennium Plus 5 and the MM/J pickup combination I should be able to play pretty much anything with that one bass. I want more, though!

It really did help to think of the five-string as a 4-string + 1. I do have to think a little bit while I switch between 4 and 5 but it comes pretty quickly.

:bawl: I paid for my T40 last Sunday. Then I find out they don't ship but Wednesday thru Thursdays. :crying: I checked their check out blah blah for my order status a little while ago and all it says is 'ready for shipping'.... I want my T40 :bawl:
