Proud owner of a 1992 Peavey Fury, black and white. Since I downsized I'm playing it through a Peavey TKO 65. Well made in the USA. The Fury is solid. The neck is great. It's got some dings and a little fretwear from the years, but the action is low and fast, no issues with the electronics. It was built to last and has. Nice people at the Mississippi plant, too, when I called about a SRP-16 guitar pedal last year. I would like a T-40 bass and T-60 guitar one of these years. Probably won't happen for a while.

I'm with you about the fretboard wood, but the figuring on that pau ferro makes the lighter color more than worth it! I once owned a Fender Roscoe Beck V that had a pau ferro fretboard - $1300 bass and they put the plainest piece of pau ferro on there for a fretboard. The fretboard on my Millennium Plus 4 is the most nicely figured specimen of pau ferro I've ever seen! Peavey gets it right again!

I really want a Plus 5 rather than the Plus 4 I have now. I have a potential buyer for my Plus 4. I'm just not so sure about purple!

What do you think?

About an hour after I bitched in my previous post, my B-Ninety arrived. After some tweeking and adjustment, I now have a new FAVORITE Peavey!!!

This thing is everything my other Peaveys are not. It's light, it has a standard P/J pup configuration, it has an angled headstock AND a preamp......or I should say some sort of weird active circuit :confused: The neck is fantastic! It has a nice thick slab of light rosewood or plain pau ferro ( I can't tell ) and a nice rolled edge. The frets are perfect. The width and overall feel is slim and fast like my Furry. The nut measures 1 5/8" but almost feels like a thinner Jazz neck. The bridge and tuners work perfectly and the intonation was dead on when it arrived. The only thing I did was tighten the truss bar and adjust the pickup height.

The only downside is the preamp and pickups which I'm going to replace with a Villex system anyway. Right now the tone knob drops the volume OFF if you turn it all the way to the bass side :mad:

As it is right now I can dial in the P pickup and get really NICE P sound. The J pup is sort of bright and not very impressive. I can't wait to install the new electronics :bassist:

All things considered, I couldn't be happier considering what it cost. I have NO reservations about spending another 3-$400 on this bass to make it a monster!!

I'm probably going to sell my T-20, the one with the pinup girl on the pickguard. It's a great player and it good shape, I just have TOOOO many basses right now :( If anyone is interested, let me know.

That's the way my Dyna-Bass was. I owned it for 10 years and never had to touch the truss rod. Always super low action and great playability, perfect setup out of the box that stayed perfect even through string changes (updated intonation naturally). Unbelievably stable and the most comfortable neck I've ever held.

I can't tell if I like it or not. I'm usually into natural looks but I'm also maturing as a bass player and am finding I'm more into how a bass plays and sounds than how it looks. My Millennium Plus 4 is just about the nicest playing and sounding bass I've ever played! I'll bet the B-string on the Plus 5 is really nice too!

Oh Man! I miss my T-40. I had a teal green one. I called peavey about the color and found out it was a custom paint job they did for someone. It was beautiful... if anyone see's it or finds one similar, let me know.

Mang that 5 string is really very nice. I think you should do it (can you play it first?). And purple does actually occur in nature... :smug:

Could someone describe the sound of the VFL pickups (bartolini or EMG like). And does Peavey sell replacement VLFs if there's problems. I've heard they are a non-standard size pup w/no other mfg replacement pups on the market.

I've found a good deal on an older Peavey with these pups, just curious about the pups.
