U.S. Peavey Club

I've bought an EMG Geezer Butler pickup to try in the Fury. While it's not externally obvious I have an old Raven Labs PBR-1 retrofit preamp for P-bass in it. Great rig. I'm hoping to leave it in with the new pickup and a replacement cream/black/cream pickguard coming from Chandler in California. The GB pickup is going to have to go some to outdo the stock Peavey split coil P pickup.

The Emg GZR is my favorite P pickup, monstrous mids, I love it, currently have one wired with a Tonestyler (not in a Peavey though) and could not be happier with this pickup

Must be sick. Passed on a $180 fretless Sarzo project half hour back :(

Tell me I did the right thing fellas.

@mech

I'd already chose the pickups,UK outfit called Warman sell 4 string "Jazzbar" that fit. I've used them in my Zephyr 5,had to lose the
covers though. That was ok as I'd rosewood boxes in place. Zephyr uses the same pickups as the Grind.

Had second thoughts but the fret markers are too much,black & red inlays so I can't even sand them out.

Weird thing is that Sarzo of mine's never gets played.Love the feel of it but can't seem to find a tone that suits me :(

Well the last thing I need is another bass... but I saw a really clean '93 foundation at gc with the OHSC for under 200$ so it's on layaway! I've been wanting a new foundation ever since I had to let the last one ('94) go for monetary reasons a few years back, and this one even has a maple board (my preference). It'll go nicely with my '83 T-20, i'll post pics when I get it in the next week or so!

Well NBD for me also on the w/e. I picked up an 89 SF Foundation. Black and Maple. Has had a bit of a rough life and needs set up and strings.
I get home from vacation tomorrow evening and Thursday plan to get her back up to snuff and thumping. And will post pics of course.

Any recommendations on strings????? I went with Chromes on my SF Fury and couldn't be happier. Thinking of flats on the foundation but would like input if anyone has some to give.

And then there were two... Or three.

So I've long since had a thing for US made Peavey fives. I had a millenium a few years back, and foolishly sold it. On a bit of a quest lately, I grabbed the redwood Cirrus pictured here a few months ago. That pic is about three years old.

Fast forward to the last few days, and I picked up a violet Millenium 5, and a charcoal G-V. The G-V is the one that just closed on eBay. Might have been a tad high, but it is very clean, came with OHSC, and included free shipping. I'll post pics of all three when the two from today come home.

Still maybe into a clean TL-5...

I kept eyeballing that G-V but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. Congrats on the score. If you get a TL-5 I recommend the 2nd model with VFLs and mid shift in the pre. With what you're playing now I think you may like it better than a 1st model with the Super Ferrites although there's a lot to be said for them. There's no difference in the way they play or the feel. Same neck and body.
