Yep, it's Koa. It's my understanding very few were made about the time Peavey quit using Koa due to cost. No finish. Buffed in mineral oil at string changes for almost 20 years. I've only seen pictures of one other that was on epay several years ago for $$$$. I modified a Hipshot D-tuner for the E position not long after I got it.

That's sweet. Sort of a "left nut" bass, as in "I'd give my"... I'll keep my eyes open for a good deal on a TL5. Missed one at $400 this week, but I was sitting on that G-V. I have a line on another G-V, this one with the Modulus neck. I may end up with both. Its a freakin sickness. Good thing Peavey basses are so under rated. I have less $ tied up in all three of these world class basses than I would in ONE with a "better" brand name. Been there, done that. Sold a modulus Q5 for $2500 two years ago.

Now THAT is a TL5 I would like to have! My biggest complaint with the one I did have was the thick gloss finish on the back of the neck. And 1st Gen >>> 2nd Gen all day long, in my book.

I heard that. I've been on the hunt for select Peavey USA basses in the last few years. Mainly 1980-90s models. I'm up to 25 1/2 now. Need an early 80s Foundation neck to replace one that looks like a snake. Most of my buys have averaged $200 shipped with $500 max for a couple of prime samples. If you like 5 strings and have never tried a T-40 check this thread out. I modified a T-40 for 5 strings and it met all my expectations. It's a true beast.

I've seen that one, and the other thread. Both look real nice. I'd probably do that, if T40s were still dirt cheap like they were a few years ago. I remember when you could buy one, all day long, for $100. That wasn't THAT long ago, maybe five years. Now that they're fetching real money, cutting one up is less appealing. I like the PV 5s. The grind NTB in my profile pic went away to make room for the cirrus. Cirrus is a MUCH better bass, but that grind was certainly very giggable. I have a millenium bxp too. Lives at my gtr player's house, for rehearsals.

And now back to the more mundane. My new (to me) black and maple Super Ferrite Foundation.
This bass has no noticeable fret wear just needed a good cleaning. Slapped some Lite Chromes on, adjusted the saddles and intonated and she sings.
I've been looking for one for a while with the thin neck and SF's.

I have a keeper here.

Just bought a candy apple red US Millennium to go with my favorite bass, my black Foundation. It's supposed to be delivered on Wednesday but I won't get to see it for 4 months ...unless my Mother-in-law brings it when she comes to visit. I am optimistic that this will kill my 5-string GAS for a while since I no longer lust for the "perfect" 4-string as I have one here and one at home.

For now, I only have the picture to keep me warm. I can hardly wait.

I guess I should put up a pic of my VFL-equipped Foundation. It's been my go-to 4-string for 2 years now and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I picked it over 3 other Peavey USA basses, 2 with Super Ferrites, because it just sounds amazing. I wish now that I'd picked up the others as well now that I know what I do about them.

Anyway, here's a pic. This is the bass that taught me to love black and maple.

I had a Gen 1 Peavey TL5 that i got new in 1989... I wish i didn't sell that bass. Great feel and sound. Great Build.. Lightweight.. Looked pretty too..
Only PV gear that i have now is a MiniMega. .and i Love that amp

i would like to find a good Cirus 5 one day.. .
I saw a Duran Duran live show a few years ago. and i was so surprised the bass was the best LIVE bass sound and so up front in the mix that i have ever heard at any show. he was playing a Cirrus bass. Just and incredible punchy sound.. I heard he likes his string on the dead side too.. I'll never forget how great his bass sound was live..

A friend of mine has been trying to sell the exact same Patriot here in the UK for the last 6 months.
Almost for the same price,his is $210. Darn shame as he bought it from the USA so got stung for big
shipping and import tax.Then the fretboard started to separate so paid to get that fixed. He's dropped
£100 from his original asking price and still no takers.

2 weeks back a Foundation 5 went for $70 Tonight it went back on sale for $140

Peavey love is at an all time low in the UK ATM

Thanks. I've not done too badly, 24 USA Peaveys among the herd Big bonus is now I must know most of
the UK Peavey people and of course a whole lot of the USA ones too.

Sure beats being interested in the big F. Can't spit but hit one of those folks
