With some major help from @kodiakblair and @mech I've got this very rare beauty up and running. It's a made in the USA Grind. It's a long story about how I got this bass, that I won't get into, but I got it from GC and it came nonfunctioning. They thought the preamp was fried. Turns out that the pickups were only wired to the blend pot and the blend pot wasn't wired to anything. Hard to make any noise when the pickups don't go anywhere :roflmao:. Anyway, with the help of the two aforementioned gentleman I was able to get her up and running. What a nice bass too, it's a shame they didn't make more of them as she's a real player.

I wonder if this one was US made. Bolt on neck, on a grind. What say the jury? Second from the right on the bottom pic, since I'm blocking most of the bass in the first one.

The USA Grind 5 is Volume,Blend,the knob by the bridge doubles as an on/off switch for active & a passive tone pot.
The dual pot is the active treble/bass. I told Groovybanana I thought mine was goosed,the knob had been fitted to far down the shaft so I was stuck in passive mode :laugh:. Wasn't enough play to press in and switch between active/passive.

Ok - I'm pretty sure this will not get my anywhere lol - but does anyone have a line on an extra Millenium preamp? I called Peavey just to make sure they didn't have any - and they do not, and do not plan on having any more made. I like the Cirrus pre - but I know I'd really use the sweepable mid on the Milly pre. If not the Milly - has anyone installed any other pre in the Cirrus, and how did it turn out. I'm thinking OBP-3 maybe?

I've used the Tone Monster SBK-3A from Guitar Fuel,it has sweepable mids. Gives you +/- 12dB instead of the Millenniums +/-10dB. Didn't use it in my Cirrus though but it sounds great in an old Japanese Tune. Comes prewired so is real easy to fit, just attach pickups (no soldering required),solder the bridge ground. You can splice in another battery connector to raise the 9v to 18v. Planning on sticking one in my Millennium BXP sometime,at $45 it's a steal.

Okay so here is the tale of me getting the USA Grind.

I originally bought it back in November 2016. Before they went to ship I guess they checked it and found out it didn't work. I was in contact with someone at GC for awhile who was not very helpful. I had asked if they would just sell it to me as is, he said no. He told me that they'd sent it out for repairs, so I asked him if he'd keep me in the loop and he said yes. Then it popped up for sale again on their website a few days later so I contacted him and he said that was in error and they took it back down. A few more weeks passed and nothing so I contacted again and got no response. A couple more weeks later I tried again and the response I got was "I plugged the bass in fairly recently. It is not working at all." I then emailed back a couple weeks later and got no response. I gave up after that.

Then lo and behold a couple weeks ago it popped up on their site again, no mention of it being broken still. I snapped it up as soon as I saw it assuming that they'd fixed it and the unhelpful employee I had been dealing with decided not to let me know it had been fixed. I got an email a day or two later telling me that the bass doesn't work but thankfully this time they gave me the option of still receiving it and if I was happy with it they would discount the price and if I wasn't that I could return it for a full refund.

The good part about the long wait, I saved $175 on the initial purchase price and it didn't cost me anything to fix it. It was a pain in the butt but it had a happy ending and I am glad to have the bass in my collection now.

It's currently got rounds on it an I play flats so I can't really completely comment on the sound, I am also a bedroom warrior who isn't all that great so I have a hard time with these kind of questions. It sounds good though. The neck on it is straight as an arrow, the fit and finish is really good, maybe even higher than your average USA Peavey and that's saying a lot in my opinion. I'll need to spend some more time with it with some flats before I've developed a full opinion but she's definitely a keeper!

If I really wanted that model, it would have to be in pristine condition at that price.

But I am saying that as a fan of the super ferrite Foundations.
