I can try to post a better pic later, but I finally finished my double P Fury project. It's the last gen model that was originally red. I picked it several years ago with a beat up case for $150. I've wanted to get into modifying and building for a while and decided this bass would make a good platform for my first project. It took me about a year to gather all the parts I wanted and courage to actually do it.
I used a heat gun to strip the original finish and then had to sand through the sealer to get down to the bare wood. I stained it with Reranch products. The stain didn't take in some places because of the glue used to hold the body together. I left the original pickup in the middle position and put an Entwistle PBXN at the bridge for some extra definition. I wired it like a 60's jazz with the stacked knobs. Babicz bridge, Grover Titan tuners, Hipshot 3-string retainer, homemade pickguard. I sealed it with Tru-Oil and then took the shine off with some steel wool.
I've been playing it live for about three months, and I love it. It has has kind of a reliced look which is not what I was going for, but I like how it turned out. The last pic makes it look more pink, but it is definitely purple.
