My single pickup 4 string G Bass came to me with a Cirrus Preamp in it, so I'm pretty sure it is done the same way as a Cirrus. Are the VFLs in the G bass active (per the Cirrus) or passive (per the Foundations) with a preamp?

That thought crossed my mind. As the current vfl is toast there's no harm in carefully removing it from the cover. Plenty options once you have the empty shell. The G-bass VFL's are active as far as I know.
Maybe the Cirrus pickup will fit inside the G-bass housing?

I have a 1st gen TL-5 that I love to death.
Darn I'd like a pale blue Peavey now![]()
Score! Hopefully us Peavey lovers can find a few deals like this, especially on lesser worn players. Finally, after all these years I got a pawn shop steal and didn't have to drive a few hours or pay shipping. A friend sent me this pic last night and I picked it up this morning. 1987 Fury at half off $125 so it was $66.88 out the door. Somebody loved it and played the strew out of it. Good mojo wear on the back of the neck. That's unusual for a Peavey because of the toughness of the finish. Some marks on the bottom edge of the body. Probably never had a case or stand. There's a long groove worn through the paint under the G string by the bridge so I think it was a country player that anchored his fingers there for a pick and palm muted. Frets are good so he wasn't heavy handed. Needs some strings, a set up and a pickguard but that's for later.

Was that bass originally black? So redid a Peavey Dyna bass. New bridge, found pickups to replace ones that were missing. Plays good, minor issues with the pots being scratchy and need to replace the jack.View attachment 2795651View attachment 2795651 View attachment 2795653
