I bought this Axcelerator over the weekend and it was shipped Monday.

PEAVEY AXCELERATOR BASS GUITAR, RED (MB1015791) | eBay

UPS somehow incorrectly sorted the package so a day was lost in shipping from Denton, TX to San Antonio...should have been one day in transit. It arrived in San Antonio this morning at 3 AM so I should get it today.

Bought an '83 T-20 on craigslist and the neck was a dog -- truss rod maxed. :crying:

Bolted the neck from an '87 Patriot to it and now I've got a PatrioT-20.



I'm tempted to wire a humbucker straight to the output jack for a fun beater bass. Considering this Warman at the moment: Warman Jazzbar bass humbucker. 13.31k, 8.56 H, 4 wire overwound | eBay

I still have the Super Ferrite but not the pickguard. I'd be cutting my own new pickguard either way.

any thoughts from the assembled Peavey experts?

The Warman is a good pickup,in fact it's a very good pickup :) Mine are hidden under rosewood boxes, fitted them to the Zephyr 5. Sounds fantastic.

I wouldn't hang about before ordering,they sell out fast. You don't want to spend 4-5 months sending Warman emails asking when they'll be back in stock.

UPS. Oh my, how can you be so impossible?

So my Axcelerator was shipped from Denton on Monday which is about 350 miles from my home in San Antonio. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday but the tracking had a note that it was "incorrectly sorted" so it was delayed and finally arrived in San Antonio a 03:00 this morning. Tracking showed it would be delivered today. I checked tracking occasionally and it showed that it was in San Antonio but not yet out for delivery. Then it goes from "being on schedule" to delayed AGAIN. The reason? "Due to operating conditions, your package may be delayed. / The package will be forwarded to a UPS facility in the destination city".

Gee,UPS, it is in the destination city. I stayed home today waiting for the brown truck which is not going to come. So I called..waited about 10 minutes to get a person on the line...started explaining about what was going on and he put me back on hold....never said a word just put me back on hold. Then they hung up on me. So I called again and finally got the computer to connect me to an agent....but instead of going on hold...again they hung up on me. So I tried live chat...and got a computer to chat with.

I give up. No doubt that is what they want me to do.

Frustrating, for sure. When it finally arrives please post your impressions and if it's heavy. Cheers.

The Axcelerator arrived. The photos made the condition look worse than it is. Really Excellent. All good except for the bridge PU that is way down in volume. I think one of the coils is open. I'll take a look inside later. Hums like crazy when the bridge PU is on (acting like a single coil) but quiet when I roll fully toward the neck PU. Maybe a wiring problem. I'll check later when I have time.

Much to my surprise they shipped it in a nice SKB hardcase. The bass weighs 8 pounds, 8 ounces. Neck feels nice and it plays well. I may have to replace the PU and, if that is the case, perhaps the seller will pay for the PU. More later when I know more.

The bridge pickup is bad. I compared the tone to my Axcelerator 6 and there is a huge difference between the bridge pickups. I looked inside and all looks fine. No problem solder joints...no evidence of tampering. The pickups are potted with only two conductors coming out so the problem is in the pickup itself. I will send the seller an email and contact Peavey tomorrow to see if a replacement is available and the price.

Overall it is a very nice little bass. It has one of those sweet little necks but no dead spots. How do they do that?
