I played an accelerator 5 last night... Stainless strings
Cranked the mids and adjusted rest of eq on board...
I feel silly as someone commented it was the best sounding bass I've brought in (Bogart, shack, Cirrus, Conklin, millennium etc)
Who would have thought a $180 bass could have done it..

The Axcelerator VFL's are the same ones as in your Cirrus and Millennium so that might have something to do with it

I own both Cirrus and Axceleator 6's. The PU's may be the same electronically, however, the PU's in the Cirrus are curved (to match fingerboard radius) and the PU's in the Axcelerator are flat on top.
Took the VFLs out one of my Cirrus 4's on Wednesday. They have Axcelerator 5 written on them in white. The 4 & 5 string Axcelerators have curved tops,only the 6 is flat.
Isn't that interesting? I purchased an Axcelerator 4 yesterday and just looked at the photos and, sure enough, the PU's are curved. Seems an odd thing to do. Flat tops on a 6 and curved on the 4's and 5's.
There is another 6 for sale on Reverb and the PU's are flat like on my 6.

It's Peavey cutting costs. The same size pickups went in both 4 & 5 string models. They'd save a bundle ordering say 20,000 units at one go. Probably no-one was making radiused 6 string pickups so they just bought flat tops.

Yup, that's stock. Right down to the foil which couldn't possibly mate with the cavity cover. What's half a Faraday cage? Nothing, really...
I can't agree more about Peavey fretless. I'm no fretless connoisseur, but I picked up this 85 for $175. I knew I wanted a fretless Jazz, but after my experiences with Foundations (and Super Ferrites), it was clear that I was getting one instead. I bought it off ebay and was more than happy when it arrived. I would have easily paid 3-5 times as much for an equivalent Fender.
Didn't change a thing when I got it because the previous owner was clearly someone in the know. It had DR Sunbeams and a perfect set up for mwah. I love it! It's quality and fun-ness is making learning how to play fretless as good as it can be.
My Foundations were like this, too. Kind of shocking given the typical thoughtfulness Peavey engineers and designers tend to show.
I ended up running more foil up to the lip and conductive painting the insides of the cover.
You're so right. I've found amazingly haphazard treatment of shielding in my Peaveys and redid mine as well. I have lots and lots of scars from being cut with the edges of conductive copper foil in the name of a quiet Peavey product.
Don't know if I've posted this before. I was watching the very talented Ghanian player Odoom earlier but he plays a Peavey Zephyr. That's not a US Peavey so here's the equally talented Ojay busking in the rainy streets of Newcastle

I have an obsession for wood. The musical kind.
So, after finally picking up my Millenium from the shop (had the frets touched up, didn't have funds for a bit), I was able to debut it yesterday at band rehearsal. Not only was everyone thrilled with the color (Prince tribute band), but they all love the sound. It certainly has more a Musicman vibe, because of that big bridge pickup in the sweet spot, along with more cutting power because of that. It's got that vintage"y" snarl sound (MM), but with much more versatility, and it just sounds fantastic, especially on tunes like Pop Life, Head, and Uptown. The low-B is HUGE, too. Call it blasphemous, but I add it to tunes like Purple Rain, The Beautiful Ones, and so on. Also, it's funny that Prince was almost insistent on Jazz Basses, because many of the tones sound like either a P or MM...weird....
By the way, my custom '06 Cirrus is for sale in the classifieds (don't want it sitting in it's case and being unused). The Milly has now become my go-to, and I'm digging the wider neck/spacing, too. It's more of a stretch at the lower frets, but the slapping is easier.
