Hey Steve congratulations. The CITES regs stopped me going for that one but no sour grapes as it's going to one of my Peavey brothersLike yourself that 2-Tek bridge piques my interest, be good to hear your thoughts.
Thanks David, I was thinking about you when I pulled the trigger, as I know you were interested in this Axcelerator 2T. Too bad CITES got in the way here, as they lowered the price to $260.
I'll give a full report to the best of my abilities...if you're ever here in NC or the eastern US, I'll get it into your hands.

Thanks! I have have an Axcelerator 5 (metallic purple), and it's a great bass with a terrific B. Along with my Sarzo, it's my son's go-to bass.
I had an Axcelerator 4 Plus a few years back, and in a moment of clear-cut stupidity, sold it.
I got the 2-T today and I already love it. It's not leaving.
I'll post a few pictures of it tomorrow - never been a red guy, but the metal flake CAR and white pearloid is gorgeous.
Curious if anyone with a Foundation, fitted with super ferrites, has installed an active preamp?
If they have, they made a Dynabass
I have very limited experience with the Dynabass preamp, but have heard from many here that Peavey's preamps are nicely done.
I have considered getting a Dyna or another Foundation for roundwounds. If Dyna, leave it stock, if Foundation, then throw the Duncan Blackouts concentric treble/bass preamp in it. It just replaces the tone control and from prior use in other basses, it sounds great.

Got a Darkglass Vintage Bass Ultra pedal the other day, and will be trying it out tonight, combining it with a Yamaha NE-1. My Millennium 5 will be taking the honors of first run....

The pedals will be for live. I only use a bit of the bass' pre at rehearsals, with my amp doing most of the work. My combo's eq is pre for the DI, and can't be changed, so I got an alternative for the stage. I agree, though, that all of that on-tap eq could be evil. Also, rumor has it, that when you crank how much more of Cirrus/Milli preamps, they drink battery power, as I have experienced that before....
The milli pre is indeed dangerous. I've seen it bring guitar players to their knees.
I just got mine (axcellerator) back. Goin good to leave it at a church I play at weekly.
I'm still amazed at how little I paid for it last year... And how great a value it is.

I have an obsession for wood. The musical kind.
So I finally tried out my Vintage Ultra Bass pedal last night...pretty impressive little thing. I've messed around with everything except the bass and treble knobs. My Yamaha NE-1 didn't work as well to my ears for a slap tone that cuts the mids on the VUB. So, I chose the on-board eq (just boosting bass and treble, with a hair of mids for increased presence). That was fine for slap, but said tone needed to be boosted, compared to the increased presence from my normal finger tone on the VUB (more aggressive mid tone). I've since ordered what should work perfectly for me...a Markbass Mini Boost. I can get that off-and-on-in-an-instant tone of the scooped mids, but also with the VPF to automatically bump the bass and treble. I played with that feature a bunch, when I worked at GC years ago. Lastly, my slap tone would overall get boosted, volume/gain-wise, with the boost knob. So, the VUB will always be on, and then the MB on just for slap tone.
I realize that I went off-track from the mini-review of the VUB, so I'll mention a bit about how it has made my Milli sound like a force to be reckoned with. The "attack", "grunt", and overall drive switches/knobs can really add some nastiness to an already nasty bass. The selectable frequencies for both mid bands is an awesome feature (reason I bought it). Overall, it's interesting as to how the band levels act subtly, but very effectively...hard to describe.
These pedals will take the place of an amp/cab setup, live, as I just use a combo at rehearsals (I use in-ears at shows). I've heard that Darkglass' DI quality is superb, as is their customer service.

Someone had a Foundation fretless for sale on Talkbass for $180. I could not resist and am so happy I did buy that bass. I have done literally nothing to it...same strings...same set up as when I received it and it plays and sounds terrific. This is a much better bass than either of the two Fender Jaco basses that I owned.
Then I bought a Cirrus 6 that has a gloss finish over flamed redwood top and a stunningly figured fingerboard. It is a killer bass and I use it weekly on my church gig.
A moment of weakness brought me an Axcelerator 6 string that I expected to be an okay bass. Wrong! It is a wonderful bass in every way. Plays and sounds great and the simple 2 band preamp is very musical sounding.
Yesterday a 4 string Axcelerator was posted on Ebay and I bought that one. It looks to be in very good to excellent condition and I am sure to like it.

I would love a Foundation fretless, I've been gassing for one for a while. I have a fretted 4 with super ferrites and I can only imagine how the fretless would sound. Jazz bass killer no doubt.
Every fretless Peavey that I have played sounded great. They have always produced killer fretless basses.
Just a little point of reference...I played Pedulla Buzz basses for years. As you know, many consider them to be about the best around. I did too until I acquired a Roscoe Century fretless 6 string. It is so much superior to the Pedulla Buzz that I sold my Pentabuzz. I also own a Muckleroy 5 string fretless bass. Another killer bass that plays and sounds fantastic. The little Peavey holds its head high in very good company.
My only niggle about the Foundation is the single coil pickups. I suspect Axcelerator pick ups and electronics would be fantastic in the Foundation and would solve the issues that come up with single coil pickups. Still...for $180..where could you get another pro quality fretless for that little money? Yes, I did say Pro quality and I mean it.

My Foundation has active Super Ferites. It’s a monster
