IMO the Cirrus does not sound much like a Ken Smith. They are just two different animals.

My Cirrus 6 sounds very good. My only complaint is that the B string has a little less volume than the other strings. Now that I am thinking of it I need to see if I can raise the pickups on the bass side. That may do the trick.

Anyone else find the B string down in volume?

I had to add some of the rubber door gasket material (like Fender use to use under their PU's) on the bass side. I did raise the bass side and now the volume of the B string matches the other strings. I use this bass weekly at Church but would never remember to address this issue. Glad I did today.

I already have a Fury and a Foundation 5 that are well proven keepers, and have been on the lookout for a decent deal on an 80's Foundation to go along with them... Sadly, I waited until the price went up and availability went down - you *used* to be able to get them dirt cheap...

Anyways, if this one is a player, I'll be keeping it for sure - and like my other US Peaveys, it comes with a hardshell case, too... Here they are:

I've a 1st gen Fury, Slanted ferrite/rosewood board. Well worth looking out for. No point in me even thinking of selling,shipping from Scotland + the added CITES hassles would outweigh the cost of the bass

I want one of the later ones with the standard Fender style split coil pickup and prefer one made without the little plastic truss rod cover.

IIRC, mine is an early 90s - it's been a really good bass:

I prefer that era for Fury basses, and the Foundation 5, also - but like the looks and the pickups of the 80s Foundations... The only thing I changed on my 90s Fury was the pickup covers and knobs - everything else is outstanding... Sound-wise, it's nearly a dead ringer for my '76 P Bass - and has been stone reliable for gigging...

Playing my Axcelerator 6 string this morning and once again knocked out by what a great bass it is for such a low price. The bass is like new except for a bit of discoloration on the pick guard. The case has a crack but I super glued it and it is solid. I paid less than $400 delivered for this bass. What a bargain.

i've owned and love Furys of all eras, but I really love the '80s slanted SF era. They're weird and ugly, and that really speaks to me.

I FINALLY found a black onyx 5... $200 delivered.

I totally forgot what a solid bass these are... when I owned a purple one I remember everyone laughing at it.

I've got my two Foundation 5's - one black, one white. They are awesome - both about 1995 vintage. So much bass for so little money!! I just don't play them anymore since I got my Cirrus!! I think I'm going to have to sell them - I need the cash more than I need unplayed basses!
