I've gotten the desire for an Axe and there's a nice looking silver 5er for under $300 nearby, but I've heard they use the 4's PU and the E and G suffer. true on yours? any issue with the pau ferro board?

Mine’s white, but that’s a great model. Pulled mine out out last night and remnded myself of that.
Yeah, mine was exactly like that, too - I changed the bridge out to a MIM Fender 5er bridge so that it's spaced exactly like my Sterling 5 HS, and added some black speed knobs, though... I've played some big stages with mine - it's been a real workhorse...
I don't know about the Axe, but if it has VFL pickups like the Foundation, there are absolutely no issues regarding the B and G string... Truthfully, I kinda doubt Hartley Peavey would have allowed something like that to go out of his factory - every piece of Peavey gear I've experienced was highly functional and reliable/durable...
I would hope and expect you're right, I'm a Peavey luvr and need to go play this one despite priorities...
another think I've heard is these tend to have soft necks and need light strings, again this sounds outside my normal perception of Peavey, my T-20 FL is a rock solid stick and I may want fatter strings.

My guess is that the coil windings are flat... Not curved
I didn't expect a link, just a pic would've been fine - those are the same VFLs I have on my Foundation 5, and there are no issues with that bass whatsoever... The bass in your ad looks pretty nice - I'd probably grab that if I were you...

Are the pickups in the later Foundations dual coil or single coil? Super Ferites are single coil, right?
AFAIK, both Super Ferrites and VFLs are single coil - they just don't look like it...
but the SFs used originally for the T-20s are unique and not like those on other basses?
