If you measure the necessary length and cut appropriately, there will definitely be room in the end for a 5/16" Allen Wrench to fit in one end, the other on the truss rod nut... The only reason I haven't made one up like this yet is, the standard Gibson wrench works on all mine - if it didn't, I'd be breaking out the cutoff wheel, lol...

FYI - the regular Gibson wrench works fine on my '84 and '85 basses. But the '83s have a deeper truss rod access cutout.

When trouble hits I use this set up.

If the long thin wall wont fit due to the angle,drop a short socket on to the nut. The T-bar driver comes from a set similar to the one mesaplayer linked to. A socket/driver set like this connect the two.

String trees will get in the way and sometimes tuners. Adding this bad boy after the socket/driver could clear the tuners.

I'm thinking of getting this and calling it a day:

Allparts LT-0242-000 5/16" T-handle Truss Rod Wrench

An old post from another site mentioned that Peavey had sold out of wrenches long ago and was directing people to AllParts for replacements. I have some Amazon gift cards to cash in and also need to buy a replacement nut for the '84 Foundation anyway, so I might as well splurge. (I'm thinking a black Tusq to match the OEM nut.)

Have La Bella Jamerson flats on 1 T40, La Bella low tension flats are now on the T40 5 string conversion,prior to that it was LB Jamerson flats. Another T40 has D'Addario EXP. Status hot wire nylon tapes are on the T40 I added a 3 band preamp to,I like the control active gives to tapes.

The T45 is strung with rounds, blue silk at the tuners. No idea of the brand,never play the T45.

since I wouldn't ever plan on cutting the bass

could it be made to be a tone/volume like a p? and keep the single coil to humbucker peavey trick?

Yes.
1989-ish I think.
Nice two piece neck.
Has the brass truss nut.
Has the Grover Titan tuners.
Looks like a Fender Precision pick guard on it, which does not fit well.
Has the Peavey speed knobs, so maybe the guts and pickup are original.
Body has some dings.
