U.S. Peavey Club

Cool rig! Ive got a MusicMan HD 150 combo, cool amp indeed built like a tank.....i own several 80's Peavey basses and guitars and i know where an old guy has a Foundation S he tried to sell for years on consignment...unless he passed away.... he had flats on it, old school country player....i need to enquire about it!

I've always loved my old S. I quit playing for a long time and it's the only bass that I kept. If it's in decent shape for a good number pick it up. The Super Ferrites are sweet but the nice thing about the S is the P & J config opens up a bunch of choices for pick ups.

The Foundation S is a killer bass. I was keeping an eye out for a P/J for passive/roundwounds. The 80s Foundations are a favorite of mine, so the S is a logical one to get. Saw a few out there, but none were quite the deal I was hoping to get.
Came across my 94 Forum Plus for a steal. Oh, and it was green, had to get it, tie goes to the green bass. Got lucky that it was so nice as I'm slightly reserved with 90s vs 80s Peavey for the lower end of the line.

I agree....i have the 85 Foundation and 89 Fury with Duncan SPB1 vintage P pickup both with Fender 9050 SS flats.

It depends on how heavy the Foundation S is....no more boat anchors for me.....my minty 1st Gen Fury fits that bill, its lightweight and the 'rare for Peavey' P style neck is awesome....ive got some flats i need to try on the 1st gen Fury.

This amp, this cab, this bass w/ pickups in series.... speechless! Having to tame down the punchiness and treble a bit. Sounds a lot like old Frank Bello from 80s and 90s Anthrax .... love it!

Yeah, I’ve carried that cab up rusty metal fire escape style steps/stairs to a venue once in the Atlanta area. Craziest load in situation ever. Luckily I was still lifting heavy at the gym and could handle it. I was younger then too.... 44 haha. I’m 47 now and haven’t lifted in a year :-/
You can lift weights, work out but mother nature eventually will find its way with back problems....in my case at 59, very worn down vertabrae after 40+ years of labor and lifting and injuries.....ask for help, its not worth it.

I do now. I had a sciatica issues that flared up and stayed with me for months. I quit boxing and lifting during that time, because of the pain. I'm just now getting back into my fitness habits, and DO NOT want a flare up again! I won't be striving for a 500+ deadlift again though. I'm content leaving that as a memory of my 20s.

I would love to plug into that Super Twin and cab!
The whole band enjoyed it immensely. I had borrowed a Fender Bassman 300, for the previous rehearsal. I used the same Foundation, but without the series switch, it had not arrived in the mail yet. The 300 was as plush and pillowy as a pillow top mattress, and warm as a campfire. The ST can mellow down and warm up, but the owner (of both amps) said it won't get as pillowy. I told him that the ST was like a mad junkyard dog on a chain.

We started out rehearsal with Tracy Chapman Give Me One Reason, and I immediately thought "OMG, we should be playing Got The Time by Anthrax!" and I quickly tweaked the amp and bass to settle things down.

A handful of songs had the whole band saying stuff like "That bass and amp are perfect for that song--- nailed it!" Two that I remember were Kravitz Are You Gonna Go My Way and Cranberries Zombie picked with a quarter I found in my pocket. I don't typically have any picks around when I want one. Plucking hand placement/technique, the series/parallel pot, and the tone knob were all I needed to get all the bass sounds from 60s Motown to country to punk rock. The Foundation pickups and electronics blow away all my jazz basses! My Fenders only sound good (to my ears) with the tone and volumes all the way up. The Foundy was amazing at any setting!

I had sciatica in my left hip a little over a decade ago. Agonizing! As long as I keep it even a little stretched and walk around and stay active, no issue!

When you mentioned Bello tone earlier, "Got The Time" went through my head! LOL
I agree, the Foundation is a perfect Jazz bass. I love my J's, but the Foundy wins. Super Ferrites hip hip hurrah!

OMG....Sciatica is what i am being treated for right now in physical therapy...there are very specific exercise you do in a controlled environment and you MUST avoid doing ANY other exercises.....all exercises are done just 'to the point of pain' and you stop at that point for a second and back off...then repeat.

Ive been thru chiropractic, steroids and am attempting to avoid surgery....Sciatica is something that has flared up from time to time but it started with a back injury many years ago and then a repeated upper ankle injury 'on the same side'...my right side.....i was doing some digging and working on a ladder when it flared up again 3 months ago.

Anyhow, be careful....make sure your exercises are approved, electrolytes (mag, potassium, sodium) are in balance and proper nutrition mostly thru healthy food.

This truly sucks right now....cannot play any heavy guitars standing up....diabetes worsens things along with old age and arthritis...

Hey there fellow PV fans !
Today is August 31, 2018.
There is a Peavey B-Quad 4 for sale at Guitar Center. It is magenta and the head stock is torn off, so it is in poor looking condition there, but the rest of the bass looks good. It is over priced at $1,699 BUT it exists and is for sale with a 30 day return policy. Personally, I LOVE Guitar Center. I own a white B-Quad 4 and two of the piezo's don't work, but the rest does.
These are KILLER basses and a huge bang for the buck.
I think I remember seeing this exact bass here on TB at one time.
