U.S. Peavey Club

Effort is correct, this bass is almost flawless. The sound coming from the instrument is almost perfect. I keep playing it then playing my Fodera, Benavente and Acacia. My ears and fingers aren't lying to me. It's that good.

This doesn't surprise me. These are some of my favorite basses ever (Cirrus neck-thru/bolt), along with MTD USA, Ken Smith, Warrior, Modulus, and Mike Lull. The sound is HUGE, and the action on my custom Cirrus can be put almost on the frets with minimal buzzing...it's a beast.

[QUOTE="MTMTEX, post: 22434041, member: 11673Koa one! That thing is awesome! The only other TL6 I saw that I didn’t have was white so if my math is correct they made 8 different finishes. Gratuitous picture follows!

I guess koa was custom order only and they didn't get many orders. The instrument is outstanding, I may pick up another one down the road just to have. They were so well built.

Fortunately, if found in good structural condition, the instrument are undervalued for the quality. Which means I can find another CHEAP!!!!

any thoughts on the Unity Koa with passive P/J configuration? Is it basically the Dyna Unity but passive electronics? There is one on the GC site that looks like it has beautiful figure on the body. I don't need a 4 string but....

They are cool... I beat the snot out of mine (when I had it)

I did run into a few that had dorked necks -- unsure if it was construction or coincidence.

I’m hoping one of you PV fans can help me out. I picked up a USA Cirrus 6 string (Wenge top) recently that is missing the original truss rod cover.

Thinking no big whoop, I called Peavey CS for a replacement this week and they informed me they no longer have this part available.

75021039 - TR COVER-AV- SOLID BLK

It’s an odd configuration with a very short TRC and even shorter distance between the 3 screw holes than any of the blank aftermarket TRCs I’ve seen.

Ok, so it’s a 2001 model and I’m hoping one of you folks wouldn’t mind pulling off your TRC and scanning it on a copier or scanner so I can make a template to fabricate one out of the correct material?

Feel free to PM me if you don’t mind this favor and can help a PV brother out .

Thanks in advance! Brian

I'll join the club if y'all don't mind. Pictured below is my recently acquired '92 Palaedium. Got it in Seattle summer of 2018 off of Craigslist. Would love to know more of this basses history because it was well played and worn, but the guy I got it from was just a middle man.

When I bought it, both strap buttons were missing, two of the tuners were missing the tiny nylon washers in the tuning keys, there were some stickers on the back, and it was QUITE grimy . . . it cleaned up real nice, I replaced the strap buttons, repaired the tuning machines, adjusted the neck angle and truss rod and now have an incredible player!

I have a wenge top Cirrus 6 too! Awesome bass.

I think the Axcelerator basses use the same TRC.

Give me your snail mail address and I will send a tracing to you.

That's totally nice of you to do that for BoomBoom, and if you go to your local library you can get a 3D print of it, too for free.

If anybody needs TR covers for Axcelerator or Cirrus 4 strings, here's a couple of scans.

You can get the correct size from the screw holes on the headstock. Adjust the image to suit then convert to .dxf, laser cutting service folks use .dxf. There's plenty of online convertor sites.

Okay, it's time to find a string brand for my TL-6. I'm going with round wounds. I put a NOS set of Fodera AJ strings cause I had them sitting around in my stock. This will be a good indicator if the bass will use SS strings. I also have a set of DR Sunbeams on order. I would like to try round core strings first. I'm keeping the action LOW! I'll report back after a few days of breaking the strings in. I also may try the Fodera nickle strings.

I would love to hear suggestion from you. Trying to keep it low tension. Lemme know what you use.
Thanks!

You might want to try a set of Caye Bass Strings...less than $9.00 on EBay. I don’t have a 6 string but I ordered a set and use the top 4 strings strung A D G C. I like them a lot...easy to play but I never used the 2 low strings.
