I'd be leery of the extra tension in the thin Peavey neck and it would be a mod.

Replace the original nut and swap it back when you sell. As for the neck, both @mech and myself converted T40s to 5 strings with no issues. Heck I had La Bella Jamerson's on mine 2 years.

Have a noodle neck Patriot strung BEAD.using the bottom 4 from a 5 string set keeps the tension even.

No reason why the 2000 won't do the trick.

Never owned one but hope it's like the Foundation 5. Wonderful neck on my 5'er.

Mech has a number of his basses with the nuts filed for BEAD, he can tell you exactly what is involved and the results.
I know you can string a bass that has the nut opened for BEAD with a standard EADG set, no problem.
The nut is not cut deeper, it's cut wider ...and the strings sit at the bottom of the U shape and stay put.
Nobody likes their nuts too tight!

Here's a last minute query for you knowledgeable Peavey-ites. I'm about to sell my Claro Walnut Cirrus 6 to a fine American gentleman. Before it goes off across the border, I'd like to be certain it's not going to cause either of us CITES ulcers. From all that I've been able to read the bass should be claro walnut on walnut body and walnut with maple neck. No bubinga or anything else that might be troublesome. Am I wrong about this? Help is much appreciated. [Yes, I know I shouldn't sell a beauty like this; however, reading music and playing a 6er is a quick means to clunkers for me at least.]

Well, Peavey Customer Service (bless their hearts) got back to me pronto. Turns out the neck is maple and *purpleheart* which is these days a sustainable replacement for bubinga. Pau ferro fingerboard is specified. So I'm good to go re: CITES.

Remarkable detail in the file they provided giving the materials to be used in the bass—even graphite rod (for the neck). Year 2000 manufacture date and price then: $2099.99.

For the record, every time I've contacted Peavey asking for some help with something, they've been uber-responsive. Thanks to @Chuck M for suggesting I contact them for info.

I'm not sure if I put this in here or not but this is our full performance from 'Da Big Daddy G Show' that we did back in the beginning of June. It's one of those late night, middle of the week Austin public access channel shows. I think I linked another vid from back in October when we also appeared on there back then but the mix wasn't the best for vox etc so I just did an instrumental. Not too many vids out in the wild of guys using TL-Fives so I thought I'd share......it's a joy to play! Oh....and I threw in plenty of mistakes for free!

You guys are AWESOME !!! I love your sound. Killer bass playing, too !

Well the Foundation 5 was gone....actually never there. I thought it was at my GC but ended up being on the in the Orange, CT store. That's what I get for trying to search the used gear with my phone.

So I've changed direction based on some of your feedback and I am going to try a BEAD strung bass. I was able to find this very good condition Dyna 4 yesterday which I will string up BEAD. Other than some bumps and bruises, the only thing wrong with it is the missing truss rod cover and the need for a good cleaning. Unmolested, electrics are quiet and function as they should and it has a dead straight neck.

I'll take some better pics when I get it cleaned up.

Me too ! It's my favorite for Dyna and Foundation. I guess it's called gun-metal grey.

No it's not actually, normal height. The guy was just a heavy picker. Most of the wear is from the pick itself hitting the PUP and bezel. Some string wear but again from picking the shlt out of it.

Piss poor technique! But I’ve seen wear like that on several of my Peaveys.

YES !!! Here we are Friday night, and I'm home on the 'puter. So I just bought a Peavey Patriot from GC site. Has TWO EMG's and an EMG NTMB preamp ! I'm super stoked. $300 in upgrades alone.
