Material Choice -- overall, it seems as if things were descaled to a budget management point... notice how they start out as in "way over built" then materials and hardware reduce in scope and scale
Preamp - everything on these were options.... many times the vendors would not tell you they could special order... there was a catalog that speced out every little nuance.... most folks just bought stuff off the shelf... many times the vendors would try to find things that cost the least.
Dirt - the rage at this period (golden USA period) was satin or bare finished necks... both attract dirt.... the pau freboards were new at the time (in the us) we didn't know what to do with them etc.
