Do you have weather change issues? (unfinished neck through)
Do you really use mineral Oil on it? How does it work.. is it greasy?

It probably was special order.
The Koa is the most stable bass I have. The oil seals the wood and water beads and runs off. I don't use too much oil and hand buff. Feels like satin and almost plays itself. My hands are pretty dry and I don't mind a little slickum.

I'd like to have a Dyna Unity Koa so it could have a little brother.

Same breadboard 5 knob preamp as my Koa TL-5. Maple body/neck and weighs a ton but sits well. About 2 sets is all I can handle.

This is a Dyna I picked up cheap. It was beat to he!! and gone and the TR had been over tightened to where the neck split on the back at the nut. Found a Korean neck that fit and re-shaped/modified the peghead to two on a side.

Painted Krylon base black with Deft satin clear, dyed FB black and covered position markers. Used some Birchwood-Casey stuff on the frets to turn them black.

Deleted the Balance control and used two push button switches to do the PU select. Bridge, Neck, Parallel and Series. The trim pot on the pcb is used to set the level on the neck PU. This balances the PUs and calms down the output in the series setting. Push button for Active/Bypass.

Series is my fav. Monster fundamental all over the fretboard with plenty of definition.

Homemade black vinyl covered pickguard let me ditch the PU rings.

Strung BEAD. In low light it looks like a set of strings floating in the air. It's giving the Koa TL-5 a run for it's money.

IF someone bought the bass and sees this, I know where there's a spare mother board...
(and no not mine)... I can send pix.. I know for a fact Meridian still supports this bass.

OK, I've had my Fury for about 2 weeks now, and I told MNAirHead that I'd report on it.
I'm no expert, having only taken up bass in the past 2-3 years, but I know what I like.

I've got a few other basses in my normal rotation to compare to this Fury. My '81 T-40 and G&L L2k Tribute are usually what I reach for when I go play. The most direct comparison to the Fury would be my MIM P-Bass. I like my MIM, and I've played lots of 'em in stores and pawn shops. Mine is a good one...but this Fury is just so much better that it's almost funny. For one thing, it feels much smaller and comfortable than any bass I own. The hardware is ultra solid, and not a peep out of the electronics. The pickup sounds like a P-bass pickup should sound. The Maple neck. I love this maple neck!
I really can't find a weakness to this bass. Overall, it's right there with my favorites.

I've been setting up our Jam Room to start recording my son's band, so I've been spending lots of time standing, sitting, recording, testing, moving furniture/equipment, all with the Fury slung over my shoulder. I couldn't do that with the T-40 or L2k...they're just too bulky (and I may be getting too old for that). I get real good tones from the Fury, and since I'm going through all the frequencies and effects on the board, I've got a real good feel for what this bass could do in a studio.

Aside from being gorgeous (my first and only white bass), I still can't believe that you can get these for less than $150 (in near perfect condition).

Nothing is going to replace my T-40, but this Fury now hangs right next to it.

It's always my hope that we can help some youngster from buying a name plate only and missing a future collectable.

Fury basses are notoriously set up wrong and dorked in other ways.

HINT - NOTE... watch your 1/4 jack --- like Pbasses, this is a weak place to put your jack.. hold the pickguard or eventually you'll break your plastic. Seems as if T-20s TriLam is a bit stronger.

Any reports on how this plays and/or sounds.

There is not a ton of real life info on Sarzos -- we do understand your voting by buying 2.

Biggest questions----
1-Do you think the pickups are Bart design VFLish?

2-How wide is the neck

I've only owned one of these.. not enough info to help the PMers.

Forgot to say thanks.

I'll spend hours with folks helping them select and buy questionmark USA Peaveys. All I ask is a follow up status and honest opinion.

I'm always puzzled how folks will not follow through on their word.

This thread may be the single most important USA thread on the net.

PS.. Nothing will replace your T-40???? Try a T-20.. all the mojo, 75% of the weight.. crisp attack.. 1/2 the price.

Cool bass..

Any clues of how much and what you used for the hardware change?

I keep going back and fourth trying to decide if I should stealth a black neck Fury.. Ever seen one?

Note.. the "purple" is commonly from the dye fading.. IF anyone is looking to buy one.. have pix shown of the front and back --- if it's been in a store window will fade to a strange grey/purple color vs trans black.

One of my favorite TL colors -- as long as it's not dorked.
